If you replace the plug;
Those Saito connectors only like Saito plugs iirc. The RCexl plugs don't mate well with them and vice-versa.
Kind of a pet peeve how they mix metric and inch based dimensions. 8mm? Geeez it was always 5/16"!

hey guys, does some one make glue for applying covering, I had to pull back some of the covering on the Mustang to sand while fitting the wing, now the covering wont adhere

Been using metric since the first day I walked into a shop over 50 years ago
My peeve is mixing the two, especially when it involves values like "1/4-32" and they then call out an "8mm" hex. That plug was originally a US design, using US threads and a 5/16" hex!,
Early on I can recall working to drawings with inch dimensions and metric tolerance limits, hole locations with metric size holes and inch marked locations.
No big deal, been putting up with it
Now, when are you folks moving your drivers into the proper seat location , on the left side?

heres one for you. Looking for an a aluminum throttle arm for a Saito. Have ever made one? Not that I have had trouble in the past but this last weekend I ran into a problem. The plastic arm split up all three arms. It was like the fuel got to it along with the heat.

I switched over to using canopy glue. It's thinner with a much longer working time. After squeezing out ALL the excess by lightly smoothing the film down with a finger I use a wet paper towel to remove the squeeze out. Next I gently pull the film back up and let it get partially set up before finally pressing it down and doing final cleanup. So far I've never had canopy glue come loose.
Either way immaculate cleaning of the two surfaces is required. This is the tricky part because when you pull back the covering to clean the surfaces it is easy to put a crease in the covering where it's still sticking. Pull gently and at a shallow angle to find the spot where the covering is still sticking and try not to crease the covering when cleaning.

Thin Stixit with Acetone or MEK and apply two coats. Then you can go and iron the covering back in place once it dries. Only thing to be aware of, once it is stuck, it isn't coming off.

Saito 90-T idle 3 minutes without dropping a plug.
Saito 90-T I rebuilt, new air pump, two new piston rings, new lifters, cams and rocker arms.

I've used Stixit, it works but it's very thick and difficut to apply uniformly. It dries wicked fast. The results are usually lumpy and clean up is impossible with anything except MEK.

I wonder how similar it is to the old "Balsarite" as sold long ago?

Gary,I called VP, but Tom the glow fuel guy is out for lunch, I have to call back. as for store bought glow fuel, how do you feel about VP's standard fuel,
and I say standard because I can't justified paying $14 more a gallon for the YS fuel that has the same Nitro percentage as the standard
but then again I have to add that their YS fuel is $4 less a gallon than Wildcat

Glad I stocked up on glow. I have a full case of 15% SIG 4 stroke fuel, along with several other gallons of various brands. I used exactly 1 ounce on Saturday tuning and running up the Saito 72.

Not sure, many say Balsarite is just thinned Elmers. I need to get some to finish my Someth'n Extra. I love the way covering sticks to lightly sanded Balsarite.

Red Max is good fuel. I got 8 qts. of their synth/castor blend from a club member last year to run my 2 strokes. Last time I checked their site 15% worked out to something like $34 gl, after hazmat/shipping fees. It's 20% total oil content but I think you can call them and have a custom blend made to order.
Ran it for years tell the guys I was buying it with died.
Now just get what I can.

dam. I burned about a 1/4 of a gallon of glow but went through 1-1/2 gallon’s of gas. Hmmmm must be doing something wrong.

Thanks Jim and all, it actually sneaked up to 7,950 for a few seconds but couldn't maintain it, maybe another 16 oz of fuel will get us there. With the tank so low compared to the carb, I had to keep sneaking the HS needles open as the fuel lowered. I'll block the tank up next time or use a Cline regulator.

That odd number happened when I moved the tach from the front to the rear, the sun being behind the engine messes up the tach reading.
