That is the version the engine is, I have a very early 1.50 that was one of the first sold and it has no letter on the lug. I tried in vain to find the correct pipe, perhaps a TurboHeader is in order. Easy to cowl around and good for a couple of hundred rpm + a deep powerful sound.

Your engine has a 14x1mm exhaust thread. Double check this against your options.

As I see Jim's reply to 72, I'd like to say a few words about him and his customer satisfaction.
A little while back the RC Specialties muffler on my Saito 1.20 came apart at the joint that was riveted. I emailed Jim and asked if the design was changed from the original. I was not looking for a replacement as I had this muffler in service for two years. On top of that, he had replaced it once already and I thought it was used long enough to satisy the cost.
Well, Jim said the design had changed to a welded construction that was heat treated and polished. Sure enough, I went to the RC Specialties site and it looked really good.
I sent back my wounded old tired muffler and I received the replacement within a few days of conversing with Jim, in addition to another muffler and adapter that I had ordered.
The new welded and polished products look great. The weather has calmed down a bit and it looks like I will be able to show off the new pieces tomorrow at our flying field.
It's nice to know a company exists that stands behind its product and treats its customers head and shoulders above most.

That picture is just nasty... It took staring at it for more than a few minutes for the willies to go away. I had to email it to a few club members firstly to remind them of how dangerous these Saito engines are and secondly to offload these engines to me! :-)

I remember getting wacked by the small .049 Cox line control engines when I was a kid, but I never want to get hit with one of these more powerful engines. With your permission I'm going to print and laminate this photo to our club's safety board....

Question for any of you. What thread pitch is the Saito pressure tap http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...#quickOverview ?

I'm trying to fit a Saito 125 with a smoke system. Surprisingly the black exhaust piece between the head and silencer was easy to drill a pilot hole into. Now I'd like to find the correct drill size and tap for the next step. And if it's weird, does anyone have a recommended, more standard, pressure tap?

I'm fairly new to the rc world and started flying a couple of years ago and i'm having a blast !
But there is a lot to learn . I have a question about my saito 180 gk Can I change the prop hub myself
has anyone smashed one with a pair of vice-wrips before like I did ? I Was trying to change the prop and it would not come off !
The back of the prop aparaintly needs to be reamed a little bit more than the front . Well if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated .

Your are supposed to ream the hole to size first

G'day Saito people. Another victory for Saito. I test flew two models yesterday. One, a Sig Mid Star 40, was powered by a Super Tigre G51 and eventually went OK once it was trimmed but the motor is still new and it dead sticked. The second is an 80% Astro Hog built from a short kit of laser cut parts. It is powered by a Saito 40a and it was brilliant. The little Saito was more than enough for the little Hog and despite the fact that the engine has only had two previous flights, it ran perfectly. Even the model did not need a great deal of trim and flew pretty well perfectly from the off. It left me feeling all good with a smile that almost needed to be surgically removed. And to add to the perfection - the weather conditions were brilliant. Sometimes it just goes right.

It is pressed in.

Remove the external nut and drive it into the carb body. It will fall out the other side.

Most of these have a little Vee notch on the spray bar end. This notch goes towards the intake manifold.

You will have to press the new one in witha piece of metal tubing over the spray bar part and against the flange.

The little thin Oring goes on the outside.

Well, that’s it, I'm officially disgusted. Put a 18 X 8 prop on my Saito 1.80 today, got it started and was running really rich, bought it back to idle so I could get around it to set the high speed needle. Stepped around the prop, opened it up bent down to turn the needle and KA-POW, there went prop, prop washer, prop nut, spinner nut, right into the siding on my house. Missed me by mere inches and the patio door by about a foot, two dings in the siding, found the prop and washer, nothing else. The prop was about 30 foot away and I have no idea where the nuts went too.
I sure am glad I chose too go to idle before I stepped around the prop. Gosh if that had hit me I'm afraid to know what would have happened. Well off to order prop nuts and props.

I have a brand new FA100t twin that I have not yet run. The instructions say to use 15% nitro and 20% oil. A local hobby shop said that Saito owners in the area are using Heli fuel becuase it has a higher oil content, but it is 30% nitro. Any suggestions? Stick to the factory instructions or go with the heli fuel? This new engine is installed in a TF Cessna 182 that will have a full cowl.

It will be a few days, the hobby shopw will have to order some in. I going to order a 17 X 8 and a 18 X 8. Do I need to open both needle, it was spitting out as fuel than it was burning and fuel was running out of the carb.

The difference is in how fat your wallet is. The engine likes the extra nitro but will be content with 10%. Nitro = money

Try to run fuel with some castor oil in it

Need a little help. I have an older 91S, (black and gold box, old label"Hemi Head High powered High Cam Series") that I just can't tune. I've got six other Saitos from a .72 to the FG36, and have never had trouble with them. I don't have the directions (bought used) so I don't know if they set up the same as newer carbs. I've already removed the choke.

It starts great, and idles great. I just can't advance the throttle and keep it running. Dialed idle needle in, dialed it back out. Started with the HS needle at 2.5 out and can run it out forever and keep it running at idle. Waited the prerequisite 7 Mississippi's between adjusments. I started over a dozen times, even flew another plane to think. Just can't get it run and stay running.

I've checked the tank, the lines, everything, because it seems like an air leak. It's on a Sig Hog, and the tank center is on the carb center.

I keep thinking it must be something with the older model...even though I know it's not true.

Anyone??

Open the idle needle to where it is out beyond the face of the throttle arm and try to get to high speed and get the HS needle set.

I have three of these early ones. There is little difference

Whats the magic number for turns out on the HS needle (for a good start) on the older ones? 2.5 or 5? Somewhere in between?

2 1/2 is a good figure for up through the 91's
