Bill - start with 10% nitro and 20% oil. Boats are loaded like airplanes so run plenty of oil. If you find the engine doggy, add nitro or drop the head. I'm not sure how compressed those engines are.

My dad used to say that a boat engine is loaded like a car going up a 30% grade - ALL THE TIME. Even an aircraft engine will unload every so often but not a boat. In a real full scale boat there is no subsitute for cubic inches. Hey, this is an airmplane forum. Well, Enya has made some marine engines too.

Cheers,
Bill

When I get some spare cash, I'll go looking for an Enya marine engine if they aren't too scarce. I'd also like to get my hands on
.45 or .61 AAC 2-stroke. Preferably a .61 revver. Got some homework to do.

Wow. Looks like she was ridden hard, and buried wet. Looks like a looper... I'm guessing it's iron/steel too. Too rich for my blood for what it looks like. I'll keep my eyes open, but I'm not in a hurry.

That looks more like a old hobby shop boat engine display to me. Some hobby shop setup the display to show people how to install their inboard motor and running hardware. I remember seeing those types of displays here or there at different hobby shops before. Of course usually they don't normally use a good engine for the display.

Too bad, an Enya inboard marine engine just sold on eBay last month. I get regular updates every day from eBay regarding Enyas for sale. If I see one I'll let you know. Yes, they are rare.

Cheers,
Bill

That's what I'm talkin' bout! I gonna keep my eye on it. I have a beautiful tunnel hull as a home for it.

There are very few engines that can't be made into a good engine. I bought an Enya .19 4006 on eBay. "Great engine to run or add to your collection." They failed to tell me that the cylinder bore was so rusted that the piston was frozen in the bore and the liner was rusted into the cankcase. A-lot of patience and application of heat yeilded a truely nice solid engine. I gave the seller OK feedback and sent them a very heated, scolding E-mail. Imagine selling an engine and not even trying to turn it over. Fortunately I only paid $12.00 for it.

Cheers,
Bill

Bill - that's a nice story (and outcome) of a truly high quality engine. Even rusted solid, could still be made to run. Gotta love it.

Enyas; beat em', abuse em', neglect em' and you can still pass them on to your grand kids. Imagine what you can do with one properly broken-in and well maintained. There are engines that are lighter and more powerful but few have the durability of the Enya. At this point in my life I buy hardley anything else. I do have a few Cox .049s and a two McCoy
.35s. The rest are Enyas.

Bill

Peter Chinn's review of the 60-4C and 80-4C say using 15% castor is perfectly okay. I'm curious about that.

The SS30 will still get 5/25 fuel. It looks amazing inside still. The castor stains are growing on both of my enyas, but is easily removed with dawn power dissolver.

Long live the Enyas.

I ordered my Enya #3 glow plugs on Wednesday and they showed up today. Now the only problem I'm encountering is that my remote glow driver will not clip onto the glow plug and lock onto it. I believe its a Sullivan Head Lock Remote glow plug connector, very similar to this:

This clip works fine on all of my other engines, except the 60-4C. If I use 2 washers under the glow plug, it will clip on but I worry being that the Enya glow plugs have a shorter reach that this may hinder the glow plug operation somewhat. I had been using 2 washers under the OS F and Fox Miracle plugs, but that didnt bother me as those plugs have the protruding tip on them. The Enya plugs do not have this (except the 4C plug). Should I worry about using the extra washer? The engine did not come with the Enya glow plug clip/remote driver harness, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure there are Enya clips on eBay right now. I can possibly get you an item # id you want.

If you are using Enya glow plugs there is a guy on EBay that sells the Enya special remote glow plug clips that you can get.
shtterman is his username on Ebay. But some others sell them off and on too.

I was afraid you guys were gonna say that. I really dislike Ebay... [:@] I may have to bite it and get one though. I can make a homebrew clip to work for now, but I'll want an Enya clip.

edit: looked on *bay... no luck on the glow plug clip... What exactly do they call it?

You haven't got to worry about Shtterman. I've purchase many things from him before. His stuff is new and first class. Pull up this item # 221077817795. Do a "Contact Seller" and ask him. I'll bet he's got one.

Bill

Check these out on eBay.

Item # 221123512427 $15.95, Item # 290777768761 $19.50. New in package.

Don't you hate it when manufacturers make their products in non standard sizes? I love Enya products, but this thing with the glow plug size is danged annoying.

My remote clip works just fine on the Enya glow plugs, but I have to use an extra copper gasket. I've ran the engine in this fashion with the other plugs I've tried and its worked fine from what I can tell... However these were either Long reach standard type plugs or the projected nose 4-stroke type plugs. The Enya plugs are shorter reach by a thread or two.

I haven't ran the 60-4C on the new plug yet. If it warms up and winds die down some I will test run it in the yard.

I'm sure something could be made to fit. Most inboard marine engines use the same types of flywheels/starter pulleys.

Thats an OLD one, too. Looks like its ringed. No provisions for a bolt-on muffler unless it was drilled for screws..

The muffler would be the least of my worries. I can probably forget a tuned pipe. The muffler I'm sure I can get on eBay from Shtterman. I won't perform like a K&B .61 but I'll bet it would run fast enopugh to scare me.

Cheers,
Bii
