Here's my latest Enya project using an .09-III TV for a 30'' (762mm) span OK Models Pilot Cessna 177 semi-scale CL job.

Thanks, Bill. I've done further cleaning up since. When I get it completed and painted, I'll show what the final installation looks like.

I'm looking forward to it. Are there still C/L flyers out there?
Cheers,

Flew it on a very light 3d electric plane. Great performance, but I got really tired of the noise it made

I have two of these engines and they seem to be really nice, although the exhaust is on the left side. It is one of the reasons besides a cleaner looking installation that I installed mine upside down in the Cessna 177 CL.
BTW, I wanted to add that I have plans to build my Hobby Lobby Miss Stik Senior, but I love the noise. In that I plan a Fuji ABC .099S-II cross scavenge engine, although the Enya .09-III with Tatone Peace Pipe muffler may be an option.

They are a great bunch and you may be able to find a CL flier near where you live.

I have an SS30bb R/C personally, and I find it to be a real sweetheart. I ran mine for about 50 minutes on the bench using 5% nitro 25% castor. After the break-in, it throttled great. The stock muffler sucks, robs 3000+ rpm.
If you're willing to run straight castor fuel, the iron/steel is great. If you plan to run a synthetic/castor blended fuel, I'd suggest the ringed version. Call it a superstition, but I won't run synthetic oil in my iron/steel engines. That's just me though.

There's a very good article here http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=4037.0 which explains why those of us who used lots of castor weren't always doing the right thing. I still use 25% castor in things like my old OS Max-S 35s, but engines like my SS30 get 11% castor,11% synthetic and thrive on it.

Check out this thread under tach readings...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10765479/tm.htm
Certainly not 3000, but definitely in the 1000 rpm range. I've been flying these engines for years and I really don't like the stock muffler. It's very noisy and it robs power. I've done a little better with a Macs one piece, but not as well as the guy in the thread.

Actually, I went back and read the whole thread, and with a Jett 46 muffler he got increases of over 2000 rpm. Of course, the muffler probably cost more than the engine. Still, it shows what a difference a good muffler can make.

RE: Club Enya
The stock TT 46 pro muffler gave me 1,540rpm gain on a 9x5 over the ss30 muffler, and the .46 Jettstream muffler gave nearly identical readings as open faced exhaust - 2,390rpm gain over stock muffler on APC 9x5.. Volume matters. Close to 16k on a 9x5 is impressive to me, especially being relatively modest in the timing department. It only cost me $45/shipped from NY too.

RE: Club Enya
Does volume matter or is it something in the internal shape ?
Im making up a rather large muffler now
out of an aluminium coke can
and its quite thin and light
if that fails Ive got a steel tin the same volume, I will try
I machine a ring that goes all the way around the circumference and clamps around it , then bolts to the exhaust
I also JB weld epoxy it ,
The JB can last , not all the time though
exhausts are very difficult subjects to get right , too much heat and vibes

Volume, stinger size, port timing all play a role. The trick is finding the pipe length/volume that works best with the timing of the engine. Being that the stock muffler is so small, I figured there would have to be power gains if the muffler size was increased. My experiments technically were/aren't "tuned", as the Jett muffler gave the same results as open faced. I have a .25-.35 Jett muffler now too that I will try on this engine, and my Super Tigre S29. It's tuned for 17,000-20,000 where the .46 sized Jettstream is tuned for 15,000-17,000rpm.

Just bought my second Enya 4 stroke
a 60-4C model S7001
The seller advertised it as brand new.
But unfortunatly, it has been started loooooong time ago, and run once or twice maybe judging from te exhaust and parts, then just left there without afterrun oil or anything [:@]
But it is still in great shape, and it will be running well soon after a check and cleanup.

I bought a 46-4C some time back and I knew it was used. I wound-up installing Frank Bowman piston rings and replaced all the bearings (four) and it's fine now. Your bearings may be fine but inspect them for corrosion. If you see ANY rust on any of them I would replace them all. I have a good source for you for the ring and everything PM me if you like at [email protected]. You bought a nice engine and it's worth a-little TLC.
Cheers,
Bill

RE: Club Enya
The 60-4C like most of the other Enya 4-strokes run very well, but need a very rich idle mixture. Mine runs awesome on Fox idle bar plugs and Enya 3's. If muffler pressure is used the idle mix can be leaner.
Mine came to me unrun but without a box, paperwork, or tools. It didn't however need a new ring or bearings. 12x6 or 13x6 is what I use on mine. Currently it's on a custom built flat bottom airboat.
Edit: changed wording.

RE: Club Enya
My Enya 80-4C, while not requiring as rich of an idle mixture, still runs best with a rich low speed fuel mixture. Then again, it is the same engine as the 60-4C engine with a bigger bore. By the way, the Enya 80-4C is actually a .74 if you do the math. These are two of my favorite Enya four-stroke engines.

RE: Club Enya
It never made sense as to why it (my 60-4C) needed to basically be so rich it was missing every third cycle or so.... Turns out its "just one of those things". Only time it ever quits on me is if its out of fuel or the idle mixture is a tad lean. It will idle down to 1400 on a good day.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I let it soak overnight in clean fuel, and I could just brush off most of te brown staining from the parts
So the bearings are fine, the cam parts and crank shaft is now a nice gray color. Its all cleaned up,oiled and assembled again ready for use
Compression is awesome, and the valves are 110% airtight
The two screws holding the rocker box cover where not original and not even the same type and too long, so the cover could not be tightned.
Found 2 nice stainless screws, and shortened them.

Enjoy your .60. They sound so cool at low throttle.. The occasional miss has a "poik" sound that for some reason makes me giggle.
I wish my engine looked as nice as yours. Mine has some slight corrosion on the outside of the engine. Maybe some CorrosionX will cure that?

RE: Club Enya
Just had the pleasure of running my old Enya .90 four-stroke... on the test-stand ... in preparation for fitting it to a model.
Running straight fuel, with a Walbro pump.
It is so pleasing to use this Enya (well, all my Enyas, actually). It just thumps along at tick-over, with a solid beat.
Great bit of kit.
