RE: Club Enya
It can't be saved...since it has already been saved :-))
I've got this motor from ebay about 3 years ago and got some money back from the seller afterwards.
He doesn't knew about the condition of this thing since the owner was his father which was gone.
It looked good from the outside...but..
Another Ebay shoot was the 60-4C, bought as defective for 35 Eruos, but it worked out as new and
unrun engine..
Sometimes things happen...
The only problem was the bad exhaust thread, have inserted some brass tubing hold by an additional
M3 screw in the flesh from the head. This is the better running engine out of two .46-4C that I own.
The other one is in mint condition but is running a little bit more raw, maybe it needs some additional
running time.
I do own an additional .90-4C, a .60-4C, a .120-4C and there are two incomplete engines that needs parts,
an .120R-4C and another .90-4C and several two cycle motors from Enya.
Maybe someone here want to sell some "for parts engines" to complete the .90 and the .120?
I'm a german but I must import Parts for them anyways, yes I know of Ken.
Regards,
Holm

Hehe, (rised eyebrow)...how this is be meant?
I'm not that proud of that repair, but it is what was possible for me with my old lathe and
the tools I had and it works.
The M3 Screw is holding a clamp that presses the tubing to the inside..

Bill, I just ordered a 16x8x4mm cam drive pinion bearing from Boca Bearings for my 1989 .46MKII. All the rest are in great shape. It looks good but is very loose.

Bill - it's an Enya! Of course it can be saved! I've seen pictures of worse engines that run fabulous after some spit and elbow grease...

I bought an Enya .19 on eBay that was "perfect" - yeah right. The sleeve was rusted to the case and the piston also. A-little heat and TLC and she is tighter than one than one that wasn't neglected that I have. There are still small pits in the cylinder but it runs like the hammers of hell. Ya can't kill an Enya.

That was very resourceful of you, tiffitech. You turned an otherwise unusable engine into a good one by correcting this flaw.
That is what I like about the modeling community, the ability to turn useless bits of balsa, foam and metal into instruments worthy of flight!

Hey guys. I recently bought an enya 80. It looks to be in good shape and makes good compression, but has no muffler. I've looked a bit but had no luck. Any ideas? Is there another i could use? I'd like to use it on one of my vintage planes. Thanks, Steve.

Thanks Tiff, it's all back together and is smooth as silk. I'm thinking about installing the head shim because the only fuel I have now is WildCat 15% with 18% lube.

RE: Club Enya
I got a still-new-in-the-box .45 CX on EBay a while back and I just broke it out for a new project and ran it a couple of days ago. I don't know why I'm still amazed at how wonderful these engines are right out of the box, but I was blown away once again by the amazing power, reliability, and ease of operation.
I feel sorry for any RC pilot who hasn't experienced the joy of operating an Enya glow engine.

Its too bad the exchange rate is still pretty crappy for the US $dollar$ -> Japanese Yen. I'd buy more Enya's direct then.

Have you tried running it, using a straight exhaust pipe, without muffler? You might find that it's perfectly acceptable, esp if you use a large, fine prop ... the sort that you might use for a vintage model.

Ok, so maybe someone can help me out a bit. So, I'm getting ready to mount an old enya 80 to the bench, but figured I should probably clean it up a bit, since the last time it was run was about 15 years ago. I took the valve cover off to find a bit of corrosion. Normal, I'm sure. What do I do about it? Anything? What else should I do / check?any suggestions?thanks a lot, Steve.

Hmmm, really? That's worth trying. I'll try it out on the test stand later and let you guys know how I make out. I really want to use it. Thanks, Steve.

I use no muffler on several of my engines ... BUT, I do fabricate a plain exhaust pipe which leads the residue out to the bottom of the fuselage. Keeps it clean and seems to "control" the noise, somewhat.

Thanks. I'm sot sure if it will run today. I thought I had another engine mount kicking around some where, but I can't seem to find it. I'm thinking of another way to mount it for testing.

The biggest problem with Enya 4-strokes that you have to be careful of is the cam box. If the engine hasn't ran in a long period of time, I would be inclined to pull the cam box cover off and inspect the cams and lifters/pushrods. Some crazy people run 15-20% nitro in these (ludicrous) and can't figure out why the cams rusted solid. It's worth the peace of mind to check it out to me anyway.
