I have 7x4, 5, 6 and 8x3.. Using lighter load for break-in. I'm putting two of these engines on a wood/foam airboat to beat on in the grass/gravel. Don't want to load the engines down with too much prop or the boat won't move. If each engine puts out 2# thrust or a little more, I should be in good shape.

Hi everyone... Can anyone offer any insight about the "old style" Enya 60XF Al-Chrome with the GM9 carb? Its the only .60 size engine available in the Enya jap-site. Unfortunately, it appears as if Enya production of new Enya's is about to disappear. I've e-mailed Ken Enya a few times in the last few months and gotten no response and as soon as each model/size on the site is exhausted it is being removed and/or left out stock. Sad!

The catalog list is extensive and has been as you see it there for several years (been monitoring the site for about seven years).... but in order to actually shop and see what is available you have to click on the "Shopping" tab which takes you to a link which shows you what's in stock... in the past it used to be that when some models went out of stock they would be restocked in a couple of months and about 85-90% of the models were available. For about the past 3-4 years (since earthquake/nuclear spill?) there has been very little restocking, only a few non R/C additions have been made and the available choices have been steadily going down. For example... For the four stroke models, only a (very expensive in $) .36 has been added in that span, and the .41, .53 and 1.55 which were usually restocked frequently remained out of stock. Only the small engines (.11-.15) are left for RC. Also the site used to be updated as to wording, messages and even the currency exhange, but not anymore.

RC, I can speak about 60 AAC, I had one, it was super smooth, it had the carb with the midrange adjustment and rheostat like throttle response. I had too many two stroke .60s and sold it. I don't remember the rpm.

I have an Enya carb from the XF series .60 engines with the midrange adjustment and airbleed trimmer. It's got a larger choke (IIRC this carb came from a XF-III or XF-IV GP .60 engine) than the carb on my ST S90 so I'm gonna swap it to that engine. I'm curious how to set the midrange adjustment for a ballpark setting to start with.

Can you post a picture of your 60 XF? Left and right sides. The carburetor will be a air bleed for sure but I not sure if it will have the mid range adjustment.
The engine will run on fuels from 0 to 15% nitro and 20% oil. I do not remember if you said your engine is a ring or AAC. I've run my on a APC 11x7 to 11x8 with a muffler and on a tuned pipe (15 inch) up to 11x10. So far I've like the 11x9, 8% nitro 20% oil running 13500rpm.
Manual attached

After rebuild I did a short test run with my Enya 46-4C.
Temp: 13°C
Fuel: 20% Castor, 5% Nitro
11x8 Graupner grey Nylon: 9700 RPM
10x6 APC Sport: 12000 RPM
The bearings are all hybrid with caramic balls.
Seems like the Engine may be able to turn 14000 but just for the sound. The power curve drops too much above 11000RPM I guess.

The 60X currently listed by Enya is definitely the first version because it has the larger section in the front housing around the front bearing. Later versions had a bigger crankshaft (and obviously a bigger rear bearing) so the front housing was enlarged to give a straight run from front to rear. The photo (when enlarged) shows it's got the carb with mid range adjustment which is the best carb I've ever used. Factory setting is with the lever centred with + and - showing rich or lean.

When dealing with one of these carbs, is there any literature as to resetting the midrange adjustment? I'm not sure if it's been messed with or not, but there are two screws that hold that housing in the carb body much like a SuperTigre carb and location is important for those. Except the Enya carb doesn't have a full spraybar. It needs to be pulled apart and cleaned and subsequently reassembled.

Tim, is this what your midrange equipped carb looks like, Thanks This a lousy picture because Peter Chinn's picture weren't so hot. He may have mentioned the midrange adjustment, I haven't read the entire test yet.

It looks like it. I'll post a photo of my example later. I haven't taken it apart yet until I knew more about it. IIRC my example came from a Heli engine.

NCRC, I thought you were in Clinton not Climax!! Too far to drive for just this piece, so let me know when you are ready and I will send money. If you want to save some time let me know now and I will send funds and you can ship ASAP.
Thanx,

Mr. Chinn didn't think the midrange adjuster had much authority, on my .60 AAC I just left it in the middle. It's a metered carb with an airbleed trim so maybe the metering is close enough. My read is that the midrange adjustment changes to relationship of the slots in relation to the barrel opening. There is no slant to the spraybar end so it wouldn't work like rotating the spraybar in a SuperTigre

Sorry, I went to edit my own and accidently hit your edit button., I'm not used to my monitor being wider and narrower from top to bottom. The post boxes are therefore wider and narrower top to bottom.
