My engine need cleaning

RE: My engine need cleaning
Liran,
The inside of your engine can keep running as it does; it is not very dirty.
The outside of your engine is another story.
Do not buy your fuel from the shop that you do, because the Castor oil they use in the fuel is not a degummed grade OR you are running your engine too lean and it overheats.
Since the second possibility seems far fetched, buy only fuel in sealed containers, made by a prominent fuel manufactuer.
I only use Model Technics Duraglow 5%, since some other available fuels I used seem to have been re-filled by the hobby shop, with junk fuel that includes s%&t grade Castor oil, that made my engine dirty.
This Fuel is sold by Tissanei Rekhovoth and the new hobby shop on Jabotinski in Ramat-Gan. Maybe others sell it too
Using Duraglow (with an additional 5% Klotz BeNOL Castor oil), I don't have any varnish stains on any of my engines.
For cleaning now, you can see another thread about 'crock pot' cooking in automotive antifreeze.

RE: My engine need cleaning
Just put it in a sauce pan filled to just cover the engine with anti-freeze(concentrate)and a slow boil for half an hour and take the motor out and it will look brand new..
Ive done mine 3 times like this and they look new.
Just dont boil it to hard as it could catch on fire(concentrate).

DragonHeart,
The cleaning fluid must reach all the nooks and crevices of the engine.
It must also be allowed to drain from the entire engine, with all the displaced dirt and gunk.
Are you sure this can happen with only the glow plug removed???
Remove at least the muffler, glow-plug, back-plate, valve covers and all access hatches, if any exist.
Also, turn the engine (not against hydraulic locks), to circulate the fluid in the engine, before letting it 'simmer' for hours in the hot fluid.

Hello; If you don't want to go to all the trouble of diss-assembling the engine, just buy some good hand cleaner and a tooth brush and hav at 'er. You might have to do it a couple of times to get it all off, but it works for me. I use the orange type of Gojo, wether it has pumice in it or not is unimportant it's the solvent action you are looking for. I don't understand why a person would ruin a perfectly good slow cooker when hand cleaner can do the same job with a little scrubbing.

A quick search of RCU gives lots of examples of the Crock pot cleaning method.
Have a look at this thread, lots of varying opinions and more links;

Good luck!

RE: My engine need cleaning
Hello,
The guys out at the field were talking about this the other day. They said that the seals needed to be removed and any bearings as well because the antifreeze would eat the seals. Any comments?? Once this was mentioned I became worried about my cylinder sleeve coating. Interested to hear from you.
