Engine is surging and quits when transtition to full throttle.Runs fine in Idle mode but quits when going to full throttle. We have adjusted the idle and air and needle valve with no improvement.Just wondering if it needs a valve adjustment.

The valves needing adjustment seldom manifests itself until they really really need it, however you could eliminate one possibility by adjusting them.

The OS 52 does not have an airbleed carb.
If it quits when you give it the throttle, the low speed is too lean.
Some people claim that surging at higher speeds is a sign of a high speed rich mixture.
Enjoy,
Jim

A good idle, but surging and quitting when advancing the throttle, is usually a sympton of fuel restriction. I would check the fuel lines to ensure that they are not kinked or plugged with foreign matter. It could have migrated into your carb, so don't forget to flush that out. When all else fails, change the glow plug. If you are not running an OS Type F plug in that engine, shame on you. <G>
As Hobbsy stated, a valve adjustment couldn't hurt.

Oh, and one more thing. Make sure that your fuel tank pickup weight (clunk), is not too close
to the back wall of the fuel tank. You need a quarter inch to ensure that enough fuel is getting
to the engine.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
