Default Saito 72 run time on a 10oz tank at full throttle?

Hello!

Got a Saito 72 and Im wondering how long it will run at full throttle off a 10oz tank. Im thinking of using 15% 2Cycle fuel and a 12-8 or 13-6 prop.

Anyone know or has a good guess?

Thanks all!

Funny you should mention this, as I was breaking in my new .72 over the weekend on a test stand. I used a 12x8 prop, 10oz tank, and 15% nitro w/18% oil content (mix of mostly synthetic but with castor). After putting five tanks through it (remember, only 4000rpm or less for the first 1-2 tanks), I then let it go full throttle for the sixth tank, still running on the rich side. It ran just a little under ten minutes. You have to remember, though, that you are not going to be running full throttle all of the time.

Yep of course I wont run full throttle the whole flight. But I think its nice to set the timer to the full throttle run time, then you have few minutes extra to think about landing and maybe account for other guys suddenly deadsticking or being on the runway or whatever else may come up.

Thanks for the info Dave, neat coincidence on the fuel/prop choice huh? Which brand prop are you using?

Right now, a Master Airscrew wood prop, but may go to an APC.

The way you fly, Filip? Don't worry... there will still be fuel in the tank when you ball it up.

Just kidding, just kidding... calm down.

So, not much at the field other than T-34s yesterday, huh? I didn't finish the remodel of the Cap until 4am last night.

To answer your question... about 10-12 minutes. I ran a 13-6 APC on mine.

See you Saturday if not before. :-)

I don't run mine full for the whole flight either but I get 15 min. I run a 13x6, 30% Heli fuel, on a Pizazz. I Think I got 10 Min. at full Throttle. I set my timer for 10 because we have a small field which requires a couple of passes to hit a good landing. There are days with no wind to hold it back and it just does not want to come down, So I allow for multiple approaches.
