the Grizzy 9x20 is (or was) a copy of the Jett, I know because I have a Jett, made in Taiwan, bought it some 25 years ago,, I bought one of the last ones made in Taiwan, after that they were made in china and the quality went down, the price went down too by $1000.. note that there is more than 1 clone of the Jett

I suggestion to any one that wants to buy a Lathe or a Mill is to take a long month or 2 and look very good at all the ones out there before buying, and do not buy a cheap Chinese "clone" product,, I also suggest to buy a Lathe no smaller than a 9x20

They aren't identical, mainly because the Harbor Freight offerings are 7x10 and 7x12 while the Micromark is 7x16, but a lot of the castings are really similar. I wonder how 'tight' the HF Lathe is compared to the MicroMark? Or, is the MicroMark a lower-quality lathe too???

Yeah, that's tempting. I do have to admit that my brother bought a wood lathe from HF and likes it a lot....

Of Course I can join this Club. Might be a much more exclusive Club if it would be "never owned an OS Club".

I have modified several OS or brought them back to life.
- OS 46FX/ 46SF with heli piston-liner
- 46FX with heli piston/ring and Magnum cromed liner.
- FS70 Ultimate modified to reliable running by throwing away the pump and the carburetor. Replaced it with a Super Tigre ST34H carburetor. Now it powers a Magic 3D Funflyer.
- saved some old FSR 40/45/50/60 engines and gave them a job in my models. Those FSR series are super reliable and powerful.
- I have a Wankel PI49 II which is still running great (most of them don't because of wrong oil and prop selection)
- Did some heli engine conversions to wing application. 50SX-H, 70SZ-H, 55HZ-H

Btw. Does anybody know the dimensions of the rear bearing of the OS 60FSR ?

The 60FSR uses an odd sized bearing. Nobody has it except Boca Bearings and it's an $18 bearing. It is marked right on the bearing "OS160" and nothing else. I don't off hand know the dimensions, but if you do some googling, you'll find it. The engine reviews at Sceptreflight list the bearing specs for the 60FSR, but they're incorrect - at least for the example I have.

I've heard of glow engines being started without the igniter attached. I always thought this was malarchy. Guess what happened to me? Yesterday I was bench running my OS FS A .56. I got the mixture settings at optimum. I shut it down to cool ( perfectly cold). I fueled up the test stand again for another go. I choked the engine and then turned it over to ensure it wasn't locked up due to flooding. The prop left my grip and I got out of the way just in time when the engine started (with no power to the plug). Went in the house to change my depends. Be aware of engines with real good compression and a well tuned carb. Always assume it may run without power to the plug.

It hasn't happened to me, controlliner, and like you, I always thought that that was an urban myth. Then, several years back, a couple of reliable RC column writers reported that this happened to them personally. I guess it's that 'diesel' effect. Everything has to be just perfect, but it could happen.

I have actually seen this happen a few years ago (2000-2002).

A modeller in my club tried to start and run a YS 120 4-Stroke with the wrong fuel (10% Nitro, 12% synth oil).
After several attempts of starting he removed the glow battery and turned around. Then the engine started and turned several times. I wonder what would have happend if he had his hands near the prop...

I recently picked up a Gemini FT-160. It looks like it has never been run. Looking through the glow plug holes I can see that the pistons are clean. Would like to know if there is anything I should do or check before trying to start it. The one push rod cover is dented but not hitting the push rod. Should I change it?

The serial number is 5911.
