Default 46FX vs 50SX

Has anyone had experience with these two engines.(46FX and 50SX) I have a 40-46 size 3D fun fly with no engine. The 50SX looks like a deffinite winner on paper , but I've never even seen one. Is the SX worth the extra $$.

Thanks Greg

Definatly OS50SX. 46 is a good engine but 50 a clear winner!

I've flown both and I'd spend the money on the 50 again in a heartbeat. For the record, the 46 is a very good engine too.

Have both. The 50 is stronger. Not quite as good as my gold head K&B 48, but good.

I have both engines. The 50SX is stronger and in my opinion, if I had a choice, I would go with the 50. I am thinking about replacing the 46 with a 50 that I have on my Big Stik. Shop around. You should be able to get one for $146.00 or less.

Default 50 SX

I've been flying for just over a year now and every time I go to the field I STILL get questions about which motor Im running cause of the scream and power I get from mine. There are ALWAYS 2 or 3 46's flying also and usually impressed. I ABSOLUTELY love the 50. It LOVES fun-fly props and still always very good speed.

The 50 has slightly more displacement and noticably more power and is ringed. The 46 is abc. They are virtually identical in dimention. Mine turns a 12x4 Zinger at 12500 on 15% Powermaster.

I have both and think the 50SX is the greatest. I put an Ultra Thrust (UT) muffler on it. Before I had the UT installed and with a stock muffler APC 12.25 X 3.75 I was seeing RPS at 12500 /w Wildcat extra Premiun 15% nitro 18% oil. Mine has 5 gallons of fuel run thru it. I think it's about broke in! This motor has real power.

i dont have experience with a 50sx but i have a 46fx with a tower hobbies .46 muffler which closely resembles the ultra thrust muffler but for something like 12.99. It really pulls with that muffler on it, i'd be curious to compare it to a 50sx with a stock muffler.

Default RE: 46FX vs 50SX

Do you guys that run the 50 sx think this engine will turn a 13-4Wide at 11K + ?? Also, would I be throwing $$$ away if I'm burning 20/20 wildcat?

Thanks,

WOOD
