at least they would keep them going.
Not assured, they are not making many of the brands, and others are spotty. But then again ST would likely be their largest seller.

My next go to would be Evolution, ASP for a budget beater, then Novarossi, or maybe OS. (I always get OS used because they are so popular, and there are so many used ones.) There are still lots of Supertigers at swap meets for a reasonable price. I get them for $5 to $30 all the time. Even the rough ones will have a useful carb or something. I would hate to see MECOA get the molds, that would really be the end. The Cox Conquest (and many others) were bought out by them, and they will not make them at all. Someone else would likely be a better bet.

These days, Novarossi for a good performance sport engine and Jett for high performance. Novarossi is true ABC and Dub Jett engines are all AAC now I believe.

Good reply aspeed.
Yeah I have been looking at the Evolution brand also. Their .52 is the same price as ST .51.
I have had OK luck with ASP. But would go with a used ringed ST first if I stumbled across the right one.
Should be able to get rings again pretty soon.

Any SuperTigre or Fox engines anyone has will last a really long time no need to worry yet. As mentioned, any ringed engines will last forever

eBay, swap meets, sellers on this and other forum sites.
Rings soon from the gentleman that took over Bowman's.
Those are about it that I know of. Anybody else have more input?

I'm stocking up on ST engines. I have bought six brand new Italian made ST's all ringed in the last two months off ebay at about half the price of new OS's

I sold off a bunch of my ringed engines in favor of ABC. Take care of an ABC right and they will last nearly as long as a ringed engine will. I still have a ringed S29, ringed S90K, and two ABC GS45s with a spare piston/liner for the .45s. Almost forgot about the X60 I have. That's a ringed ABC setup. It needs a piston ring, but would probably run great without it. If I can find an ABC piston/liner for the S29, I'll swap it out in a heartbeat. I am an Italian ST collector - I'm more confident in parts fitment and quality.

For the ringed guys - Gavin Carter on eBay ("gaviscool") makes good quality rings also. He is in the UK, but probably has a good stock on-hand.

This is for sure my oldest ringed engine, a SuperTigre G-21 .46. it is physically small for the displacement, it has zero leak compression. When flipped slowly you better get your fingers out of the way quickly. My brother in Aurora, Colo. found it in the trunk of a 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint he bought. It was my first RC engine in 198? I still have the engine and my nephew in western Pa. still has the Sprint. It had a exhaust baffle linked to the carb lever but a 40 sized ST Swing Quiet muffler bolted right one.

Hobbsy, that is an impressive story about your engine. Did you run the engine with the exhaust baffle before putting the muffler on? Was there any change in throttle response when you put the muffler on? Are running it with pressure from the muffler or vented tank?

Thanks H, I did not run it with the baffle, I ran it Fox 15% fuel with 20% castor as you can tell by it's looks. With an11xx6 it is very quick revving up, almost instantaneous. Sadly my brother passed away about 3 years ago of alcoholism at the age of 66. That makes the Falcon Sprint and the ST .46 kinda special. The 260 V-8 that came in the Falcon Sprints is a strong little engine and smooth as silk running.

PS, it used to ride in a US Aircore Colt 40. I still have US Aircore Colt 40 nib. Maybe I should assemble it.

Here's my latest find on ebay. A brand new G21/46. I had one of these in the '70's. It was one of the best running engines I have ever owned.

To land one, you simply pulled the throttle back and let it gently settle to ground, I also ran an Enya .46 MKII on one, another great set up.

Default St x61k

Sourced around from dealers for spares to build this ST X61K entirely from parts, same as the one I ran in 1990. Motor is for a Prettner SupraStar 60.

Test result
Cool Power 15% nitro 18% oil, Perry pump and pump carb, MK floating mount, new Hatori 700 tuned pipe, temp 32c, humidity 85%, APC 12x12. 10230 rpm.

Pretty impressive. That is stronger than an OS Hanno on the same prop and fuel. They always turned a 12x12 at 9600 rpm.

Yes I was a little surprised too, particularly for a overbore (i.e. not long stroke) motor. I was expecting 9500 or thereabouts.
Wonder if APC 'adjusted' the prop for less load over the years....however in the old days my Hanno's and YS Long-strokes turned around the 9500-10000 ball park on their 12x12, the Shadel ones slightly more. Or maybe the MK floating mounts lost less RPMs than the softer old mounts I was using then.

Looking for a Piston liner set for my Hanno....

I have a side exhaust serie X .60 - the ringed ABC cylinder setup. It could use a new head that isn't chipped and a piston ring (my engine is missing it's ring), but I'm broke. Having twin babies will do that to a guy.

The engine will probably run the way it is; compression is ridiculous - even without a piston ring, but I won't run it until I get a ring. It's got some time on it, but it's supposed to be a powerful engine.

I have a S.T G21/.40 and an S.T .60 Blue Head from the early 70's, both of which are in excellent running and cosmetics condition. Those early S.T. engines were famous for their awesome compression and super smooth running.
