Default Saito 82 muffler placement options?

On an inverted Saito 82, I am looking at ways to make the muffler come out right down behind the engine rather than sticking out to the side. I have the Right Angle Adapter ordered and that will come in when they get caught up on production.

A short curved pipe to screw into that right angle adaptor, and then the muffler into that would help, but the 82 only comes with a short straight piece of pipe. Does anyone know of a short curved pipe anywhere? I can't seem to locate one on Horizon's website.

Thanks!

Ernie

Order Saito part # SAI8075A.

It is the angle "header" that used to come with the 72----fits and works just fine for your purposes.
It happens to be what I've been using in a similar application together with the 90* you already have.

Ernie

Had the same problem and ordered the RT angle header. It is made of aluminum and machined improperly. Thr thread portion that screws into the head is threaded right up to the aluminum bloc that makes up the right angle There is no fillet to relieve the stress caused by the weight of whatever you hang on it. That plus heat and vibration caused mine to break after two flights.
My Saito is the 100. I hope they have changed the design but I doubt it.I should have sent mine back but it sits on the bench. You might give some thought about using the flexible extensions that they offer. I gave up and cut a hole in the cowl

Hi Jim, thanks for the heads up. Is your 100 12mm exhaust size like the 82?

Well on mine, there is about 3/8" of threads and then about 1/16" curved fillet part that gives some strength to the unit. We'll see how it goes in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again,

Ernie

Ernie, here is RVM's .82 with a TurboHeader on it. That one is a prototype, that's why it's only half anodized.

Well ain't that 82GK pretty. Do you still think the Turbo Header is adding a few hundred rpm's?

Thanks Dave,

Ernie

Ernie, it typically adds about 200 to 300, it has an especially neat sound on the .82.
