YS question from a Saito guy
I am a Saito guy!
I have two projects coming up, a GP Extra 330S and another CG Sukhoi SU26. I planned on buying a Saito 1.25 but, I am thinking maybe I should try a YS 1.10FZ
What do you think, YS 1.10 comparable to a Saito 1.25?

I've not run or flown either engine, but the YS 1.10 is more commonly compared to the Saito 1.50 in terms of power output. I think the 1.10 handily beats the 1.25.

RE: YS question from a Saito guy
YS.110 16x6 9000-9500
Saito 150 18x6 8500- 9000
Saito 1.25 16x6 at 8900
Marginal weight difference between the 1110 and the 125
Biggest advantage is throttle response but nothing directly related between the 125 and YS

Yes, the throttle responce on my YS .91 is "right now" quick, like no other glow engine I have ever run, and there have been many.............
You must carry a little extra fuel with a YS as they are thirsty, but once you run one, you will be pleased with the performance.

I can buy that the YS 110 will blow off the Saito 125------probably by a lot!
However, comparing a 110 to the 150----simply do not buy it.
In your dreams maybe---------YS is good but not THAT good!
To quote an old "Stroker McGurk" cartoon: "The only substitute for cubic inches is more cubic inches." From 110 to 150 is a 36% increase-------not a day in your life!
(Yeah,----I know,-------"Stroker McGurk" was w-a-y before your time---------------oh well-----.)

RE: YS question from a Saito guy
The main advantage of the YS 1.10 over the Saito 125 is the YS has a built in fuel pump. You can locate the tank anywhere. Many RC plane designs will not allow you to locate the tank height respective to the spraybar.
The differences in weight and power are not dramatic. I feel the YS is a smoother running engine, but I would be happy with either. When it was MY money...I went with the YS.

I'm not much of a YS fan, but the comparison of the 1.10 to a 1.50 cu. in. normally aspirated is about right on. A YS makes approximately 30 to 35% more power than another make of equal displacement after pumping losses and internal friction from the extra bearing and rotary valve. My YS .91FZ is about equal to a good 1.20.

RE: YS question from a Saito guy
Yes comparing a YS 1.10 to a Saito 150 is only nonsense.
Why some YS dreamers promote this BS is still unknown to us normal YS owners.
I don't think my old .91fz (on 30%) as powerful as my even older OS 1.20 surpass (on 15%).
The .91 is a better performing engine certainly, its small and light and with a real pump. But I don't belive it's more powerful and it was certainly nowhere near as reliable.
My old YS 1.20FZ is far more engine than the bored out, even older .91, now called the YS1.10.
I've flown off against S1.50s and they certainly didn't have less power than the 1.20 FZ, I'd say a little more.
The 1.40FZ, now called the sports certainly has more power than the S1.50 but not equilent to the S1.80.
Again, it's lighter, far more compact, has a real pump etc but run,s as do all my YS engines on CP 30% whereas a Saito normally only sees 15%.

RE: YS question from a Saito guy
The numbers I posted above are quite believable. I went with the YS myself because I like the idea of having a pump. My tank is going to go on the CofG in the Extra. I also would like to experience the faster throttle response and it is packing on average 5 to 600 more RPM than a 1.25
A buddy has a YS 120AC on his Goldberg 10-300 Ultimate. Very impressive to say the least! I'm looking forward to it!
