Default New K&B Mufflers

Has anyone tried the new K&B sport and/or tuned mufflers for the K&B .61? I would really be curious to see how they performed on the older .61or some of the other engines that share the same muffler dimensions. I have heard that CF Lee is even selling the sport muffler with his current Lee Custom .61's. I don't even know what they cost, but I am always wanting to try something new..

Thanks for that info w8ye.

I was really more interested in finding out if anyone had run one of the stock offerings. There are several engines that might benefit. I am more than a little curious to know if it would help one of my HB PDP's. Any thoughts?

I had one of the current style K&B sport mufflers but I never ran it on my 61. I just used the old style.

I was interested in the tuned muffler a while back, but never bought one. It's $49.95 so I'd like to know how much it adds first.

In the March 1998 issue of RCM Clarence Lee reviewed the K&B .61 Twist-On Head with tuned muffler. He claimed the tuned muffler was good for a 500-600 rpm gain over the older style standard muffler. The Twist turned the same rpm with the tuned muffler compared to running without any muffler. Clarence also mentioned the tuned muffler can be used on older .61's after you enlarge the muffler mounting holes to 6/32 on the engine. I bought a new .61 with the tuned muffler from Randy at MECOA's open house last January but haven't had a chance to run it yet.
