Default 14K rpm out of a fox 46!

a 10 year old fox too!! had been swinging a 11X7, though it was turning it a lot harder then what it was. got me a tach, and come to find out i was only getting 10 grand out of it. so i put a 10X6 APC on it and HOLLY COW!!! right away i could hear a huge difference out of it. it really likes to twist up. i was getting 14K fully leaned. but i richened it up 500. i still dont have a airplane for it. but, ill work on that. this thing has a lot of hours on it, and it runs really good.

what are the os 46's turning with a 10X6?

your the night watchman arnt you :P you have responded first to 90% of all my posts witch have been at night LOL..

14 6, not bad. better than i thought. im running 5%, with some castor added. i found out i can get it on my flex account since its a laxative :P

iv herd if you have it leaned out all the way and wide open, then put the glow driver on it and pick up RPM's your not using enough nitro. is this true? i dont pick up any if i put the glow heat on it but would i still see a inprovement? i though about getting some high nitro stuf and trying but not if it wont make a difference.

thanks W8ye!

You might see a little improvement but the small increase will not justify the extra cost of the fuel

OS .46 AX, I have had two, both would turn an APC 10x7 between 14,200 - 14,500 (Peaked) depending on the day.

Hi!
The Kyosho GX .40 (same as the ASP .40 ) will turn 14600rpm using a 10x6 RAM prop on just 80/20 Castor oil fuel (with both head shims removed) and using Nova Rossi 4A glow plug.
Turns a RAM and APC 10x7 prop at 13400rpm on the same fuel and plug.

When they teste the Fox .46 a few years, probably over a decade, they had the power of a Rossi, maybe slightly more. But it did so at slightly less RPM. It also did best with the tuned silent pipe Fox had at that time. The timing is ideal for such a muffler. I suspect the best prop is a 10-7 or 11-5 or 6 with a mousse can muffler.

I bought 3 Fox .46's when they first came out, primarily because Fox literature stated 14,800 on a 10x6. All of these motors did turn 14,800 plus. I still have 2 of these motors left after all these years. I just finished a new fun fly and installed one of the Fox's. The stock muffler was hittting the land gear, so I modified a tower muffler to fit. The 10X6 is now turning 15,700! These are great motors and have many gallons of fuel thru them. They perform today just like they did in the 90's. I have never been able to start them without a starter though.

The #3 Fox.46 was sold to a friend in 2002. It was on the front of a quickee with a full pipe, it tacked out 17,000 + on a 9x7 until it hit a lime rock road wide open.
