Saito 182 twin needle valves adjusting
I have a saito 182 twin in my cessna. My saito never stop in the air however I have some dificult in adjusting main needle valves.
when I open or loosen 1/4 turn in my left needle valve I have a evident change in the rpm, however when I do the same in the right needle valve the change in rpm isn´t evident, so I´m dificult to adjust my right ccylinder.

I took my new Saito out of the box and operated to the manuel specifications with a long break in period. Both my left and right clyunders operate the same increase RPM when lean and decrease RPM with rich mixtures. Check for dirt in the main needle valve, or some ohter problem as it should change RPM's with different needle settings.

I check my engine today and no signe of dirt in my needle valves.
My manual instructions is not clear about the fuel lines assemble. How do you do in you engine?
How many turns do you have in your needle valves?
Thanks

My only suggestion would be to put two clunks in your fuel tank and run a separate fuel line to each carburator. Get rid of all those tee's and the excess tubing I see in your pictures. [8D][8D]...........RJ

RE: Saito 182 twin needle valves adjusting
Hello; I have a Saito 100 twin, I was haqving trouble running it in on the bench. I thought perhaps if I had two completely seperate fuel systems, one for each carb would help me trouble shoot the problem. It was a tip I picked up off the Laser web site, they recommend equal length fuel lines for each cylinder. The Saito 100 was much easier to tune with two clunks no more cold cylinders.
Your pictures show that the set-up is the same as the 100 I have.

In reply to your last note I checked my settings and found that both needle valves are between 1 3/4 to 2 turns out. I have only one main supply splitting into two, with a fuel filter. I also have a pressure fitting on my custom exhaust to pressurize the fuel tank, this Iam sure helps fuel flow,do you pressurize your tank ? Just checking ?/
Keep trying,if I can be of further help let me know

Hi Donkey
Do you have two separate clunks in the same fuel tank or you have two fuel Tanks?
How do you priming your engine?

Two clunks, same tank, seperate fuel lines to each carb. Os F plugs in the back hole, #8's in the front. On board glo on the back plugs only. Set each needle seperately. I use this set up on my 130T and 182T, both run like clockwork! Fuel? Wildcat 20/20 with 2 oz. castor per gallon. Hours and hours of trouble free flying!

RE: Saito 182 twin needle valves adjusting
Hi,
I've fitteda Saito 100T to a new Seagull / Phoenix Decathlon, (2000mm wingspan model), it weighs only 4kg, almost complete, I bought the engine then went looking for a model to suit, I like the Decathlon, I don't run onboard glo at the moment, but did notice a fair bit of lagging in the engine when I take the glo off and it doesn't like to run flat out for too long. I've only put 3 tanks through the engine - about 300ml of fuel, so a fair bit more running in needed.

I have a Saito 182T and was having similiar problems. I tried the two clunks, etc. I finally got and installed a carburetor gasket set. Problems solved. I now run one clunk and it tunes and runs very well.
The gasket set is inexpensive and easy to install, try it. I also have an on-board glo system.
Good luck,
Dave

I've got one of these beauties on my kid's Rascall 110 and could never get it to run right. Maybe has 1 1/2 gallons of 15% Cool power thru it. We added on board glow and that helped to keep both fires lit but it still runs rough. I'm gonna try using some 20/20 Wildcat and check to see if I'm leaking around the carb gaskets. What prop are you guys using and do you use check valves on your muffler pressure line ?
Thanks,
paul

Well..lots of other people said they were and i guess i stupidly fell into line with that, you are right of course and on a taildragger like the taylorcraft they handle occasional prop strikes far better than anything else i've tried so far.
