Moki 2.10 vs. Dave Patrick 2.10
Does anyone have any idea how these two engines compare? I read how the DP will handle higher Nitro, etc., but is there any other advantage one to the other? I have seen several Moki's fly and it is clear that it takes a little to get them broken in and tuned right and from what I have seen, they are very powerful engines. Just curious if the DP is as good or if there is a big enough difference to notice. I realize fuel is an issue so I am really just asking about the engines in general.

there is a vid from about 3-4 year ago that has one and its bad to the bone its on a 3d site but i can't recall the name right now something in the way of 3dfx type of name....i may even have the vid saved but i am on the move right now.....

I admit to ignorance on the Dave Patrick engine. But the Patrick would need to be a great engine to compare with the MOKI. Then there's this: The MOKI/MARK engines are designed to run on FAI (no nitro) fuel. This is a BIG PLUS. Have you priced fuel recently? Nitro has exploded.
(Pun intended). At least the price for nitro has just gone insane. I'm considering going to gasoline engines....or possibly electric.

From what I understand, the Dave Patrick moki 210 is just like any other MOKI 210 except that DP requested a lower compression cylinder head design to run on the 10-15% nitro fuels that the typical american pilot uses here in the states. The pretty blue head looks nice too.

IMO, if using the correct nitro% to take full advantage of the DP lower compression, it stands to reason that the DP engine should have a slight edge in performance over the higher comp Moki restricted to 5% or no nitro.

Yes, only difference is in head chamber size - I have a spare one in front of me - subtle change in the shape of the bowl. Not sure of actual difference in CR, but std 210 is 8.4:1. We run them on 0-5% nitro, and get terrific performance, although they are a bit thirsty. Commonly see 7300rpm with a Bolly 20x10, but many run them on smaller props, higher revs. One of mine pulls a 22x8 in a 14lb 85" GeeBee Y very well. I have seen data on a piped 210, giving 8000-8300 static with an APC 20x10, 120Mph level in the air (GPS measured in flight capture). They do take some running in, but last a LOOOONNNGGG time . OS-F plugs, well primed, backwards flick, very reliable starters.
