Default Anyone used a Tettra bubbless fuel tank?

I was thinking of trying one with my new OS 160 FX. I have heard that they put some pressure on the fuel, eliminate air bubbles and lessen the leaning of the engine as the tank lowers throughout the flight.

I have also heard they are a pain to fill and cause as many problems as they solve.

Thanks for your input.

The Tetras are great. The tetra tank will virtually eliminate air in your fuel line until you're down to the last 1/2 oz or so.

As far as filling goes, you can set the tank up with a pressure line, fuel pickup, and a vent line that is only used during filling. you will wind up with a small amount of air in the bag using this method, but it is still much better than a standard tank.

Good luck,

Chris

I use them in my pylon racers and 3D planes. They work great. They don't provide any more pressure. The pressure is provided by the engine. They eliminate all the problems associated with having a volume of air and increasing and a volume of fuel and decreasing in the same container. Examples: foaming and air bubbles from the pickup flopping around looking for fuel in a half empty tank. It lessens leaning by not allowing air in to the fuel supply. I have never heard of a Tettra tank causing a problem.

Appreciate the feedback. I just bought a 18oz tank and will give it a go.

The directions are a bit weak. Any hints on the best setup. I hear you need to notch the fuel intake tube in the bladder.

You have been very helpful.

There really aren't any secrets, just follow the directions on the box. You can cut a small V in the end of the carb line to ensure that it doesn't suck on the bag and get plugged, but I doubt it would actually happen in normal use.

They are great tanks, designed more so for YS engines. For engines that use muffler pressure, they work too but a lot of gunk gets in between the bag and tank. You'd have to periodically clean them out even with a inline filter. Good for serious competition, not for sport flying. Plus point is that the fuel in the tank is pristine and you can defuel and reuse.
