Default O.S. .61 SF GOLD HEAD

How about my fellow rc flyers. I am in the need of a head for an O.S. 61 Max gold head. This engine is the 2 piece crankcase and the gold colored head and I am looking to see if there is anyone out there that might have an engine that has the head in good shape, all i need is the head. Not im not gonna be picky if there is someone that has a head that will fit this engine and it is the natural color aluminum finish than that will be all good. If there is anyone that is interested in parting out their head give me a shout please.

Are you sure it's an SF as noted in your subject line? Could it be an FSR?

GatorTail,

You wrote 'two-part crankcase'...

The FSR had that. The SF had a one-piece crankcase...

There are two OS gold head sixties; both have bolt-on front bearing housings: the earlier Max-H cross flow and the Special Edition FSR.

The first photo is the Max-H, the second is an FSR w/ silver head.

Hey David that second one is the same one that i have. I didn't realize that the specific model would be the FSR I didnt see that on the engine so thank you for pointing that out for me. Now i just need to find someone that has one that the head is in good condition and the glow plug hole is not stripped out like mine is.

Errr.... If it's just the threads are stripped, send it to Mr. Lee and have him put in a heli-coil... or do it yourself. Clarence's prices are 1/2 of what they should be.

I think I have one. If not Clarence Lee will helicoil yours for $12.50. Just send the head. You might check with tower hobbies and see if the part is still available. PM me later and I'll see if I still have the spare head.

A helicoil kit for 1/4-32 is about $85. IF you can find one.

Helicoil is a brand name. I use these by Recoil > http://www.allfasteners.com/Recoil-1...2_p_3190.html# They are about 30 buck for 10 or $3.00 a head.

I don't know ace4-40 but I'd write 'im. Seems like a more than a fair price for a hard to find part.

It's $32.50 and that doesn't include shipping which is probably at least $10. That drives the price up. Also I bet he doesn't plan on needing more than one which makes the price a little steeper than $12.50.

Hey Ace 4-40 i did check with tower hobbies and no they do not carry any parts for this old of an engine. I even sent off an email to a petes rc and no response and called the number and no answer so that is why im doing this thread and im very happy that i fellow members that can help me with my quest to find another part. I did consider on sending the head to clarence and do the heli coil But i was thinking that i can just get another head for the engine cheaper than the heli coil. So the next question is are you saying that you have a head that will work with my engine and for what price?

Like I said, I have a head for a 61 FSR that will work on your engine as the gold "Special Edition" and the standard FSR are the same except for the name on the case and a different carb. The heads are identical just one is anodized gold and the other isn't. The one I have has a little discoloration on it but is in excellent condition otherwise.

I'll sell it to you for $12.50 including postage. I'd like yours if you want to send it to me. I'd have it repaired and put into my collection of parts.
