RE: Price of glo plugs
I did'nt see K&B there at all. It was a bummer i use the 1L in my pattern plane. Kind of a strange setup i run a FOX 4-cycle plug in the front an a K&B 1L in the rear. Started experimenting with these two plugs after the OS F plug i used to use in the front went sky hi in price.

I believe there was a thread here recently, stating OS is putting some new plugs into production and phasing out some of the current models...
I believe the #8 is one of those to be superseded by the newer plugs.
If this is so, I am not surprised by a price drop just now, despite the cost of platinum not going down (around $1,200 per ounce).
The F is not up for replacement, however
EDIT: Grammar.

I have to mention that Merlin plugs have free shipping on orders over $25. And I have never been able to burn one out. I have found his 4 stroke plug really cleans up the low speed on 2 strokes running low nitro.

I have found that Fox Miracle Plug perform extremely well in both my 4 strokes and 2 stroke, all brands of engines. They are also more reasonably priced than many other brands. They are a moderately hot plug so perform well on 5 and 10% nitro fuels.

I could not find that thread, but remember a #6 and a #7 being introduced...
Maybe it was the A types that were being phased out...
Can you give us here some correct info, regarding these new plugs?
And when will OS begin making plugs that actually fit into their own larger engines (the medium-reach A3, A5 and #8, are too short for a flush fit in the head)?

A3 and A5 are being redesignated #6 and #10 respectively...

Been buying A3 plugs from my LHS for $4 each - not complaining.
I normally use the Fox Gold std long in all my engines, but the couple Magnums I have do not like anything but an A3/#6

RE: Price of glo plugs
I guess I am one of the few that has not had any good luck with O.S. plugs. I have tried them on and off over the years and they just so not work that well for me. For my helicopters I use only Enya #3's. My 4s engines get a Fox Miracle plug. They work well and do not break the bank. Most of my 2s run the thunder bolt heavy duty long standard. I have not used an idle bar plug in over 20 years. Even in my 0.09, it gets a standard short and runs very well. I have Fox plugs and they work too. If I have a 2s that runs rich or has an issue I try a Miracle plug. So the price drop is good hear, maybe it will rub off on the others.

I think the shorter plugs are cheaper to produce since the filament is shorter. That is the theory anyway. I have switched to Merlins exclusively. Just got my 1/2A drop ins and they are fantastic.

RE: Price of glo plugs
Of the last card of OS #8 plugs I got, three were DOA! And most of the others didn't last long, yet looked like new. Poor weld at the center pin seems like the cause.
Even before that card it seemed like the plugs were going sooner even tho I'm running my engines richer than I did years ago. I like OS engines but I think the OS plug quality is gone.
I'm done with OS glow plugs, from now on I use only K&B.

RE: Price of glo plugs
The K&B 1L is highly underrated plug IMHO.
I have found them great for all round use in sports 2 strokes, and reasonably priced.
I wish they were more widely available though.

LXCB27 OS#8 plug $4.99
LXCB28 OS F plug $7.99
while not the greatest prices at least they are going back down
might be the time to stock up

Better glow plug use platinum AND rhodium.
Platinum lost half its value and rhodium is one tenth it’s value from resent highs.
