Jett discontinuted the 60LX engine this month. The regular SJ-60L is still available for now. Dub is introducing the new ''long-rod'' SJ-56 in a couple of weeks, it is based off the new generation racing engines. So far testing has been great, it gets the best of both worlds. Longer rod gives it the torque of the 60L - and its super user friendly - and also turns the rpm the 60LX was capable of.
I am waiting until after the holiday to get ahold of the Evo .60 .... looks like a sweet engine, and I know it was well designed. I have to do some jett muffler testing on it so I can get some data on prop/engine/exhaust combinations. The OS55AX turned out to be a great match with the jett muffler on it. No doubt the Evolution 60NX will match up well too.

Have you read the manual!! http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...ion_Manual.pdf The manual tells you to use the MACS Pn# MAC2591 Header (OS .46FX) and MAC1250 Pipe (Muffled TP 8.5cc: .45-.60). The bolt spacing is 37MM which is the same as the OS .46FX/AX -.55AX, TT Pro .46, Magnum .46XLS, Evolution .46, .52.
Horizon and Macs Products both gave you the wrong imformation, since this engine comes with the same part number muffler as Evolution ships with the EVO .46, and .52. It does not have the same bolt pattern as the OS .61FX like Macs told you!
Here is mine with a JETT Muffler and spacer from JETT Engineering meant to tilt the angle of the muffler to allow you to install it in the Sundowner 50. The muffler shown is designed for the OS .46FX/AX-.55AX and any other engine with 37MM center to center spacing.

So if I have a 46AX on a 48" plane with a pipe, all I would need is an 8.5cc pipe and I can probably use the same header length (or close to it). My pipe is an old (early 80s) 6.5cc pipe so the 8.5 would probably make the header length I'm running on the little pipe still useful on the 60! That would wake that plane up. I'm getting 14,200-14,300 with an APC 10x8 and would love to run a 10x9 or 10x10 at close to that!

I expect that a Tower .46 Muffler would fit the .60NX? Any views? Is this a good inexpensive upgrade? Still have not run mine.

The Tower muffler will bolt on but the chamber volume is small for a 60 and the effective tuned rpm will be too high for the muffler to be as effective as it is on a 46 size engine.

It might not be as effective as it is on a .46, but it surely will be an improvement over the stock muffler which also ships with the .46 and 52 Evolutions.
If you want really good performance either get the Jett Muffler PN# JS40TT which Dubb also uses for his Jett .60L and the OS .55. You can allways opt for a TUNED PIPE which Horizon recommends for it. Here are the PN#'s for the Pipe and Header straight from the engine Manual.

I ran a few more tanks through my Modded NX, and my friends stock NX back to back today. They both now have (3) 16 oz tanks ran through them. The fuel today was 20% again. The plug was an OS#8, after the stock plug blew right off the batt with stock muffler in the stock engine. The stock mufler ran like total crap, and the testing was terminated at the beginning of the second tank. It ran like it was way rich, and you could not lean it out, or it would sag. I killed the engine, and checked the plug, and it ws half dead. i installed a New OS8 and the Jett Mufler. The same Jett Muffler and Sundowner 50 spacer by Jett was used for both engine runs, since we are waiting for the other one in the mail yet.
Stock .60 NX w/stock muffler
APC 10-8 12,800 Peaked the RPM, but the engine acted way rich and was hot. Fried the plug.
APC 11-6 12,600 Peaked the RPM, but the engine acted way rich and was hot. Fried the plug.
Stock .60 NX w/Jett muffler The engine was instantly transformed. I said there, do you believe me now. My friend pitched the stock muffler for the dumpster.

The conclusion on the Modds are still a little unknown. The engine is stronger by little, but I do not know if it is worth the time to do it. Mine does seam to be a little snappier down in the low speed throttle responce area.
