RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
ORIGINAL: nitro-pilot
I just bought one, glad to hear this. It was pretty expensive. I plan to use it on either a discontinued Goldberg Wildstick 1.20, or make that a Saito 1.50 powered plane?
Or I can upgrade my Super Tigre 90 to AX 1.20 on a Super Sportster 90/120 kit built plane. I'm leaning toward the Sportster.
What prop did you use David?

THE best one so far is the OS 1.20AX. Easy to break in, easy to start, very reliable, and a powerhouse.

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
Can I post my Wanted Add?
I will take any problem motors that you may have and are fed up with so that I can tinker with them. (Free perhaps?)
Suffered major budget cuts, but in a good way, had a baby boy this summer!!
Like my 2 .46 OS motors. Not in a club, no previous nitro experience, started and broke in like a charm.

My 'best' was a Rossi .40 that I raced in quickie 500 races in the 80's. It would turn 29K RPM with a tuned pipe, and would really haul the mail. A friendly trooper clocked it once at 127 MPH.

Cox TD 010 pure engineering pornography.
OS 15 CVA Utterly reliable and powerful esp on 25% nitro Used in 12th scale combat.
MVVS 20 with short black pipe used in 12th scale combat I like being the fastest kid on the block!
MDS 38 owned several in funflies and helis. When used with a Genysys power pipe they were up with any engine on power and had a fantastic throttle response. I sold my original recently very reluctantly.
Weston 50 T1
OS 120 AX Great engine.

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
Hi all,
I would have to say the original Rossi's I have had were
the most trouble free with good power. I had a YS .60 that
was great also, but my all time most fun 2 stroke glow was
the Dub Jett .76 on the Bridie Kaos.

I am quite partial to Fox engines. My all time favorite is the Fox Hawk 60. I don't think anyone ever made a better engine that it is.
The Fox 40's and 45's large case engines are just great anytime. Fox engines just last seemingly forever before you ever get them to wear out.
I have a Fox 45 that has been flown regularly for 23 years so far. I even ran a tuned pipe on it for a few years too. Once you develop the patience and knack for running a Fox engine, nothing compares to them.
Although a YS 60 two cycle engine that I used to have was a great engine too. Screaming power dives would get one all excited.
For 4 cycle engines the old open rocker arm OS 60 is nice. I like how low it can idle with a extra big prop on it.

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
i have had very good luck with all of the engines i have purchased. I have had a tt.46pro lose its bearings to excessive rpms/lean condition and have rebuilt it still hauls butt. also had a mvvs.45 that eventually ate dirt and bent the crank- still lookin for a new one.
otherwise i love the os91fx ring that a friend let me try. the thing is insane.
wish i had the funds to try the jetts, mokis, nelsons... i will someday! especially when i get out of helis and 3d gassers that i now find myself flying [sm=biggrin.gif]

I own several great engines, but the one I brag about the most is my webra .50. That light weight little powerhouse has been running forever! It has VERY little compression but I know it just won't die and flys the covering off whatever profile I throw it on! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another beat up and wet webra again!

I may, but it comes with a macs muffled pipe and a Nitro 69" (er umm )QQ 69" yak 54...
depends on what I could get for it....
Everyone thinks that used engines and planes are free! (not sure why that is...?)

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
My vote is for a OS 46fx because, not only did it not want to stop running,
I had some of my best memories with that engine, and a TT seamaster float plane
that I soloed on after flying on G3 sim only and not help from others (not sure if I should brag about that ?)
, at Lake MTKA!

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
For me in the mid 80's on a kadet senior was the infamous OS 40 fp, at 7000 feet altitude, it was like flying a cessna 150 @ 15,000 feet altitude, another very good engine was the Rossi 60 ringed with a supertigre carb. I had a fox eagle 3 with a supertigre carb and a fox eagle 4-74 also with st carb, magnum 61, Homelite 30cc weedie conversion engine, Supertigre 90 and 51 and a tower hobbies 75, and a very impressive GMS 76II turning a MAS S-2 13-6 prop @ 11,500 rpm and idling for 1/2 hour @ 1650rpm and flawlessly going to WOT without a sputter or cough, and running on 5% wildcat fuel. now that is one of my best owned engines with power and tourque comparable to some 90's (but not supertigre 90's)...

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
os1.60fx - at first there was a lot of hair-pulling, teeth gnashing, and needle-chasing...one day the light came on (with help from these forums and bax, of course)...starts on the first back-flip, pulls like a horse, and taxi's back...what more can you ask...no wonder it's been in production for so long...ken

RE: LIST YOUR FAVORITE TWO CYCLE GLO ENGINES
I have owned many OS's, Saito's, Magnums and YS's, but none of them beat the TOWER .75's that I own for consistant day after day flying. I prime them, back snap the spinner once and they start, and never quit unless you run them out of fuel, and did I mention they scream.
