Default ST 300 question

I am building a Ultra Sport 1000 and I have a ST 3000 with a pitts style muffler that I would like to use. I have a couple questions.

As you can see in the first pic, I made a aluminim extension for it . Is there any problems with that?

And of course the bolts are too short. The engine is tapped for 3.5mm threads. I have 8-32 bolts that are right length. Can I go ahead and tap 8-32 threads into engine?

Looks good to me.

Just buy the 3.5mm bolts and cut them, you can probably get these at your local hardware store if you don't want to mess with tower.

Thanks for the fast responce.
No hardware stores within 70 miles carry these. I can order from tower or somewhere, I just hate paying $5.00 shipping on $2.00 merchandise.
I have the tap, just didn't know if it would work. Don't want to screw it up.

Thanks

Wayne, just order a package of 50 from MicroFasteners and get for a real reasonable price. You can't have too many screws.
