Default PS 81 Alpha - What plane?

G'day engine lovers.

I could't resist. My LHS just had a 30% off sale and as a result an Alpha 81 came home with me.

The question is what to do with it?

It weighs in at about 556 grams vs a Saito 82a at 512 so it's not exactly light. Power is quoted at 1.3 vs 1.5 for the Saito but then, these figures are only for bragging.

I'd like a Space Walker or something like that. There is a Seagull 46 size but would this engine simply be too heavy and too powerful? The 120 size is presumably too big by quite a lot.

Any other ideas?

I don't want 3D performance, just a nice plane to putter around with.

Thanks for any ideas.

If you want puttering and casual Sunday aero performance then a .60 size aircraft that has some wing and is not a big heavy pig sounds right, vs. a .40 size airframe.

Kit or ARF?

SIG:

Four Star 60
Astro Hog

..come to mind, in the same kind of category as the Spacewalker.

G'day

Thanks for the comment. Either kit or ARF would be OK. I did think of the Astro Hog but getting the kit here in Oz is a bit of a pain. I already have a Four Star 60 with a Saito 100 in it.

I think you are right - something with a decent wing in a 60 size will be the way to go.
