Hi!
I use a JR 388 X transmitter (14 years old) and JR receiver in my DC-3 (35mHz) and never had a problem with interference. I was a bit cautious prior to flying it due to having the receiver antenna inside the fuselage (which is covered in chrome Oracover (Ultracote to you americans)) but radio range was the same as usual, 100m with the transmitter antenna fully collapsed.

???? What strange airplane do you have if you cannot use a suitable plastic R/C tank.
I know that the OS .49Wankel engine drinks lots of fuel but an ordinary 240-300cc (8-10oz) tank will certainly provide enough fuel for a 10-12 min flight. Any pictures???

But why solder a tin tank if it isn't necessary??

Some people solder tanks on occasion for the same reasons they build from plans or kits rather than buy aan ARF thingie. Some even build engine mounts rather than use off the shelf items.

I don't actually have a plane yet. I'm thinking of a stick, or even a quickie500 type plane, but want to carry as much fuel as can be fitted in the nose with a bit of padding round it.

It sucks about an oz a minute at full throttle, and I know this sounds weird, but even at part throttle, the fuel consumption is way up there. Maybe I'm running it too rich, but its hard to tell. It doesn't needle like a piston engine. At a certian point (while leaning it out), it just dies but otherwise there's no indication of it running rich or lean.

Very interesting info there.
I'd still prefer to solder up a custom tank to fit snugly in the front of the fuselage, rather than try and find room for a second tank. My reasoning is that a plastic tank doesn't really make efficient use of the space available for it.

Hi!
If you want a good tank why not get the best there is: A Tettra "Bubble less tank"! This tank is used by pylon racers all around the world!

I hope you don't get a "Q-500" racer as your first plane if you haven't flown R/C before...Nor is a "Stick"type of plane suitable for a newbie!

I have run several OS wankel .49 engines and I can assure you that all of them have behaved as a normal piston engine. Setting the needle has been easy as any engine!
Are you sure you use the correct glow plug? The E plug?
5-10% nitro is recommended and 20% Castor oil!
10x6 is a good prop size (Recommend the British made RAM prop)

Nor would I if it were my first, or second or third plane.
Fortunately, I've been flying rc for about 15 years.

The E plug? Don't you mean R plug? That is what I am using.
