Ok, time to ask for help - ASP 52A-II needles settings
Hey guys.
I have an ASP 52A-II that I messed up the needle settings - too eager to play with it after buying the engine.
I have tried all the methods I can think of to reset the idle mixture screw - barrel open, needle fully in and backed out 3 turns (per Magnum manual); barrel open, needle fully backed out and screw in 3 turns, like larger four-strokes from Sanye.
The thing is, by using method one, the needle sist on the spray bar and wont let the carb close. Using method 2, I can't find the spot.
So... does any of you, kind soul, has a rightly set 52A to help me out with the idle screw?[sm=angel_smile.gif]
Thanks!

PS: THIS POST IS NOT RELEVANT AS IT IS FOR THE FOUR STROKE ENGINE AND THE OP WAS ABOUT THE TWO STROKE ENGINE
Why don't you try it with the throttle closed
Needle all the way in and back out 2 turns?
Magnum 61RFS manual. (The 61 is identical to the 52 except for the bore related items)
Original: Magnum 61 Manual
Low Speed Needle Valve
The low speed needle valve meters the air/fuel mixture at idle and during
transition from idle to full throttle. Turn the low speed needle clockwise to
lean the mixture. Turn it counterclockwise to richen the mixture. The low
speed needle valve is preset from the factory, but minor adjustments may
need to be made to suit your application (i.e., fuel used, glow plug and
environment all contribute to the setting). To reset the low speed needle
valve to the factory setting open the carburetor barrel completely. While
holding the barrel open, turn the needle in until it stops. From this point, turn
the needle out 2 complete turns. This is the factory setting. It is possible to
turn the idle mixture so lean that the engine will not draw fuel.

At full throttle there should be a small gap between the low speed needle and its counter part (spray bar). This ensures that the high end is regulated by the highspeed needle only, and this setting is usually close enough to get the engine running and then tuning from there.

w8ye, this is not the FS52, but the .52 long stroke 2-stroke. Still I did that procedure but backed 3 turns as mentioned and still it binds.
Mr Cox, teh cabry has that gap, but still doens't allow for full closure of the barrel.
I gotta ask JE for advice to tomorrow...
Thanks fellas

I have two myself and have adjusted a few more of these. Close the throttle, screw the low end needle all the way in, then back it out about 3/4 of a turn. This should be close to prefect and very small adjustments can be used for fine tuning. This needle is very sensitve on these engines and the sweetspot is easy to miss.

Thank your asmund, I'll try that setting tomorrow.
This carb is indeed very sensitive, mine peaks at roughly 3/4 turns on the HSN and doesn't need much movement either side to go from rich or lean.
Thank you again gents[8D]
