yallaair. I have three chainsaws you can slaughter when you come back, they all have walbrocarbs that is similare to your carb, hopefully they are of the right size. We`ll just have to try them out;)

Asmund,
Have you been rewarded the "red cross" by Shendzen model engines manufacturers, Red China?

RE: ASP 180 fs

Edge. Why is it so hard for you to egnolige that also China can make good engines nowadays? Here`s plenty of respectable modellers in here that confirms that magnums are great working engines. You on the other hand always throws dirt on these engines and never, not even once come up with some constuctive critisism or hard facts about them. I even wonder if you ever have owned one of these engines since you never have any useful information of them at all. I will not lower myself down enough to keep on fighting you about this subject anymore, so from now on I will just disregard your coming(for sure) replys about these engines. Why do you even keep reading in here? didn`t I waste your time with this? So long for good:eek:

Hi Asmund,

how is the transition? Is it fast and clean?

Bye.

RE: ASP 180 fs

Yes it transitions great even though it is far from fully broken in. It have not quit once despite my attempt of doing so by lowering the idle so it just barely pops around and then whack the throttle. I have not flow it yet and later on today I will run some more fuel through it and do some finer adjusting of the lowend needle to get it perfect. I will propably not get it airborne until the spring as winters are bad here in Norway. Power seem to be close to Saito 180 as my engine swing Menz S 18-6 at 8350 rpm and that prop is about 200 rpm heavier load than APC 18-6w, so I think my ASP 180 will swing that APC about 8500-8600 rpm. Have in mind that this is on 15% and many rpm claims for the Saito is on 30%

Asmund, can you take a small video of it running, please?
I'm really interested to get this engine, but I wanna listen to it's voice first :)

Well, me and a friend have shot a short video but neither of us knows how to post it here(never done it before). We`ll try to get it done soon

click "last ned" and then "åpne" I know this isn`t the right way of doing it, but I hope it works anyway

Go to www.youtube.com and upload it, then post the link here... It's an easy way to share a video clip.

(Thanks for the effort, appreaciated!)

RE: ASP 180 fs

Well I broke down and ordered one (two actually :D) Price went up a bit at peakmodels, but when you add a few more engines to your order, it brings the shipping charge per engine down quite a bit. This is going to be going on a Seagull Super Star ($99 horizion hobby score!). Asmund, any luck uploading that video?

Are the ASP and Magnum 1.8FS the same engine?

Yep, same engine.

No luck in uploading, I gave it up. I did get username and password on youtube.com but I wasn`t able to get it to work.(I am terrible on the computer stuff) I will try to get some help from a friend who is more of a computergeek than I am.

RE: ASP 180 fs

I have seen Asmunds ASP 180 tested. Works very well. Transitions are great!! Just a lot of smoke fromthe castor oil...:D Ended up with one ASP 180 myself.

He had dismanteled cyl. head and we inspected internal parts. No carbon deposits / black varnish on liner or cyl. head, just a little bit on the exhaust valve. All sealing surfaces in good condition.

Soon when I get the chance, I will break in my ASP 180 and see if the performance is the same as for Asmunds engine. The only difference is that I will use 100% synth. oil, 15% oil / 15% nitro for breaking in and testing. Maybe get a torque curve also...

Asmund and Yallair!

While you have your engines apart, check for a bushing in the connecting rod upper wrist pin area. It is probably there on an engine this size, but it would be nice to know for sure. If the bushing is there, pure synthetic oil should be okay for flying. TIA

Ok, that was a really short vid of my 180 fs ASP. We`ll try to make a better video soon when we are going to break in Yallaair`s ASP 180 fs. Stay tuned, we`ll be back for more!!!

RE: ASP 180 fs

I have just broke in the ASP 180 fs. Abt on gal. though it now. Full speed is ok, but having problem with idle. Can't get a good steady idle without glow connected. Tested with 15/15 synth fuel, Wilcat 15/18, Curtis Youngblood 30/23, with O.S F plug, O.S no 8 and Rossi 2. Still the more or less the same result. Idle below 3000 rpm without glow connected is not steady and engine will stop after abt 20 sec running. Throttle transition is good without glow connected, but it seems to loose the "heat in the plug" after a couple of sec at idle. The 30/23 fuel works best, engine will not stop but idle still not smooth.

All lines checked, no air leakage. Any suggestions??

A heavy APC prop. 17-6 for better flywheel effect than a wooden prop
