Anyone here running S.T. .75s? I have several yet to break in and I was wondering if they have any quirks and how they run during the break in period.

Here's my latest find on ebay. A brand new G21/46. I had one of these in the '70's. It was one of the best running engines I have ever owned. CR |

Hey fellas. I scored an unrun ST S25 ABC aero engine from eBay. It doesn’t come with a box or paperwork. Does anyone have a manual and parts list for the S25? I’m trying to find out whether the S25 and S29 use the same conrod. I am replacing a ringed S29 with the S25 ABC and will be selling the S29. I have a couple spare NIP Bowman rings and a new conrod for the S29; but if the rod fits the S25 too, I’ll keep it as a spare for the S25.

Can you just do a side-by-side comparison?

I just received a couple of ST engines in the mail.
one is a .45S ABC. I have a .45S ringed and it is a great engine. The other is a G60 Blue Head ABC (i assume) I know there is a few variations of this engine and wondering the exact one i have. It has 5 exhaust ports. See pics.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...45d5314d8f.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...6c4117eefe.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...46a2709803.jpg |
That Blue Head is ringed. They had ABC versions in the late 70's, but this is not one of those.
|
Both engines are jewels, however the blue head G60 is a cross scavenged design with a ringed piston in a steel liner and the piston will have a reflector baffle on top. Good running engines, but a tad less powerful compared to modern Schnürle scavenger designs. The S45 ABC is a strong engine that’s made well. I had a ringed S45 and it was very powerful considering how old it was. My ringed S45 ran 14,500rpm or better on a 10x6 APC and 5/20 fuel. I much prefer the ABC designs myself, but the ringed engines run well too. They just can’t be run as hard (rpm-wise) as an ABC. |
You're correct, after futher inspection, there is a ring and it looks like a dykes ring at the very top of piston. It is destined for a Taurus (repo)

I don’t want to take the .25 apart if I don’t need to. But... if I cannot find any parts lists, I’ll take the S25 apart and check. I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask on the forums while I wait for it to show up next week.
I have the old World Engines original catalog with parts list at home. I will look it up this weekend and post a scan if that helps. |

Somewhere I have a piston liner set that I recall as being a .36 ABC. Does that sound familiar?
|
Thundertiger sold a Pro .36. Do you still have the set?
|
Just moved so it fell off the radar, ready for re-discovery.
It was Super Tigre OEM. |
I don’t recall a .36, but there was a .35 stunt, .35RC, and the G.34 both aero and heli. |
I bought it direct from Maloney at WE. It was from an intended S-36 stunt engine. Same case as S-40. Not sure if they ever made it to production but he had a very few of the liners as they went right into the S-40 cases IIRC.
|
The S36 is one I’d not heard of. Good to know they did exist, but perhaps in limited production; that is if it made it beyond prototyping even. Was that liner chromed on the outside of the liner too? I never did find out why my S25 liner is plated inside and out. |
Been I while since I saw it. When it turns up, its yours!
I found two older WE books tonight. Still looking for the newer one, stay tuned ;) |
That’s fantastic! Thanks! |
Free Carb
Qwksprt, Got an ST carb leftover from a parts pile. Yours if you can use it. 14 mm spigot and 9 mm choke bore.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...99ed14046.jpeg |
Yep, I can make good use of it. I like ST carbs. I have an engine with a bad carb, so this would work out super! |
Okay, off to a good home. They are excellent carbs.. Drop me a PM with an address and I'll get it out to you. |
