Fuel oil conversion 32:1? How many ounces per gallon.

Does anyone know or have a conversion for 32:1.

2 stroke oil in (ounces ?) to 1 gallon of gas.

Thanks!

4 oz to the gallon. Good conversion chart for 32 to 1 all the way up to 100 to 1 on the BME website.

What are some of the best 2 stroke oils for gas engines? What do some of the rest of you use?

I use Honda 2c oil in my hobby motors and all of my home equip. (chainsaw, weedeater, etc.) Never had any problems even after leaving gas in tank all winter long. (not aircraft tanks)

stl pilot,..............to get the fuel-oil mix right, just divide the ratio number,.....32, into the number of ounce's in a gallon,.....128. the answer will be the ounce's of oil reguired for that ratio. good luck mixing,.......bill

128.00 ounces is 1 US gallon of water weight at sea level at the equator.

does gas and oil have the same density?

i'm just foolin' with ya ... it's close enough. thanks for the tip!

Ideally fuel should be mixed by volume, not weight! In that case there are 128 fluid ounces in a gallon, divide that by 32 and you get 4 ounces of oil needed.

If you want to get some good oil go to a motorcycle shop or boat shop, either will have several very good blends of high performance oils. Even so, plain ol' 2-cycle oil will do just fine for a 32:1 ratio. It's when you get to the 50:1 and 60:1, etc., ratios where you need the primo oils.

Not quite right it would actually be the sum of both ratio numbers. 1:32 would be 33 devided into 128. 1:4 is the same as 20% * 128 = 25.6 oz. 1 part oil and 4 parts fuel. I use 1:32 on my weed wacker and the pre filled bottles are 3.9 oz not 4. But no harm mixing 4 ounces.

Sport_Pilot, that's not right. The engine manufacturers don't make it that complicated. 32:1 is a RATIO, 32 parts gas to 1 part oil. So, in an empty can, you place 32 ounces of gas, and one ounce of oil.

For a gallon of gas, you have 128 ounces of gas, and 4 ounces of oil, for a total of 132 ounces. There's always a bit of air space in a gallon container, easily enough for 4 ounces of oil.

If you want EXACTLY a gallon of liquid, then you divide 128 ounces by 33 ounces. In that case, you end up with 124.21 ounces of gas, and 3.79 ounces of oil. This is what those pre-measured bottles are for. You dump the oil into an empty can, then add enough gas to make exactly a gallon.

Where did 20% come from?

You are right. I screwed up. The 20% came from the 4:1 example. Each part is 20%.
