Somewhere I have all the MAN build and review articles for the whole Hots series. I also have a Hots original design scratchbuilt and a Hots Electric kit by Midwest. I have scanned the plans for the Super Hots.

Which one are you interested in?

Sincerely, Richard

There was an Ultra Hots, a Bipe Hots, and an Eliptical wing Hots also. MAN has plans for all, I think.

Sincerely, Richard

Lazer Works now has the plans and can cut short kits for the Midwest Super Hots at: http://www.lazer-works.com
I am finishing up one now and the short kits are very complete considering they are "short kits".
Nothing flys like a Super Hots.

Very nice color scheme. Have you flown it yet?

My goal is to finish rigging the control linkages on mine and maiden it this weekend.

Maiden flight was a little scary. My Super Hots came out a tad bit nose heavy and the control throws were also a tad bit too much.
I managed to land and make adjustments on D/R and expo. second flight was almost flawless. All in all I am very pleased with the
results. Hope you have a great first flight.

Hey Dave,

Congrats on the first flight, always nice to get the first one under your belt. What deflections did you use? Was it what Midwest recommended? The wind has been blowing 15 to 35 mph the last couple of days, it might be another week before I can get out.

There were a couple of things that on (my) Hots were different than the recommendations in the manual.
First was the CG. The plans indicated it at the spar location. This is about 3-1/4" from the leading edge.
I found on my airplane that this created a nose heavy condition. I had to add several squares of lead on
the tail to correct this. It appears (on my plane) based on the 30% rule, that the CG is actually about 4"
from the leading edge. The manual also indicates the aileron throws at a max. of 1/4" up and down.
I would suggest you stick with these throws or less until you are comfortable flying the airplane. I used 60% expo also.

If you are uncomfortable using the max. recommended throws, and you want more throws then I suggest you use dual
rates so that you can make a quick adjustment in flight. My plane was very sensitive on the roll axis and I had to reduce
my aileron throws.

I also want to point out that everyone builds a little differently so this is my experience. Your first flight may
be different based on many factors, such as engine size, battery location, method of building, etc.
Good luck, and drop me a line on how it goes.
Dave

Hi stg,
'Got a set of original MAN Super Hots Plans!! Good stuff. Then bought the midwest kit at Hobbyshack. Noted the Midwest Super Hots kit the fuse was a tad wider and the peak of the canopy was offset more forward (I think?) than the plans. Took the kit back and was going to build from the plans. Havn't built the super yet but have flown one. Built a electric Hots put a 05 Cobalt in it and 1 1/2" ailerons to 45 degrees throw!! Flew like a bat outa hell and would roll like a .45ACP 230gr. slug headin' for the hills outa' the barrel of a 1911-A1!!!!!!!!! What Fun!!!
