Thank you again for the compliments Jim, really glad you like my work! I do hope you find time to get to this project, would be a great addition to this thread.
I will be offering free of charge ''plans'' for this build for those that want them, in the near future. It is not my design and so I will not ask for anything, but I am drawing a complete parts sheet and they will be available for download and printing at a print shop of your choice. I will be moving on now to another project, but contact me anytime concerning this thread and anything you may need and I'll see what I can do!

I got my canopies and you did a totally professional job...really pleased with them. Not sure how soon I'll get to this build, but I'll post pics when I do.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi, I have the plans but as several have said they do not show part outlines. Do you have the parts outline in a form that you could send by email? I would be most happy to pay for them. PM me if so, and I will send my email address. Thank you very much.
Sincerely, Richard

The plans idea was something that started with momentum and then other things got in the way. Several local club members want to have laser cut kits of this plane, and we have a laser cutter and everything, but it just got set on the back burner. I'll see if the interest is still there and see if we can get some kits cut. If that happens then plans will be available.

RE: Jemco Fun Scale Series “Mustang” .40
Luke,
I finally finished the plane on 12-09-2011 and test flew the following day. It only required a few clicks of trim on the aileron and elevator. Fly's just like I remember my first one, from back in the early 80's.
The paint scheme is from a Hawk Plastic model that I built as as kid. Supposed to be a P-51D from the Korean war era. In a way I'm happy that I didn't finish it until now. Otherwise I wouldn't have it to enjoy. Hopefully I will run across one on ebay. This time I will make a pattern of the part so that I can build more in the future.
I've uploaded some pictures for everyone's enjoyment.
Keep those fun scale P-51's flying.

RE: Jemco Fun Scale Series “Mustang” .40
Looking for pland for the Jemco Mustang and Corsair. Have both of them the P-51 I built back in 81 and the Corsair is even older, but both are in need of repair. Would like to use my laser and cut a new set of parts. If I can't find my new set of Corsair wind cores I'll either cut a damaged wind that I have apart and cut new ones or draw up a built-up wing the Topflite 60 size parts. I do have the Corsair retract set of plans and would work them in either way. I do have one Corsair that is framed up but not sheeted I can take apart if need also but have cut the back deck down to make a copy ot the noe F4u-D that Goodyear used as a prototype for the bubble top F4-2G.. Getting back in the hoppy and remember these as great flying birds.

Here's the one I built back in 81
the one is taken today and other back in 81 with the EX.
Would love to find templates to cut another one Have the laser just don;t want to cut this one apart. When I built it I sheeted the wings with 1/32 Balsa and used .05 oz glass and paint to cover it. As it sets now with no engine or electronics weights 3 pound and 1 oz. but includes the 30+years od dust from hanging in the shop.

I have the plans and have had them scanned but as they as most the parts are not on there. I hope to have parts draw up for the laser here in a month or so. As I find the time, I did get a new in box kit not long ago for just that reason.rich

Just received my original Jemco kit. What other posters have said about the plans is an understatement, unless my kit is missing a sheet. My "plans" consist of a plan(top) view of each wing half on opposite sides of one sheet. The other "plan" is just an illustrated construction sheet showing how the thing goes together. I have no fuse side or top view and no plans of rudder or stab. No ribs, no formers, no parts, no nothing. It would be impossible to scratch build one from the plans I have.
The old Sterling kits were kind of similar in that they had extensive illustrated instructions and minimal plans. At least Sterling normally provided a side view, even if it was not always full size.
Overall, the kit is nice, but my canopy had been squashed. Buying the kit was supposed to relieve me of finding a canopy -- oh well.

I'd take at least two if I can. Have a Jemco Corsair I was converting into a F2-G prototype years ago and lost the canopy I had. The Mustang one worked great. sales @ rslaserkits dot com

I traced all the kit die cut parts and had the parts, wing plan and instruction sheet scanned. The scans have been sent to Outerzone; they will be available for download there. I don't know how long it takes Steve to get plans up. It may depend on whether he needs to do some work on them first.
It will be possible to scratch build the plane from what is included. Construction of the fuselage is a bit unusual, but a few minutes studying the instruction pictures and parts should show how it all goes together.

I ended up using a canopy from Park Flyer Plastics http://parkflyerplastics.com/cart/in...index&cPath=46 for mine.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact one used. It is about 10 inches long and 2 1/2 wide. It was the widest for the length and may have not been in War Bird category. I did have to narrow the cockpit opening by adding balsa strips along the length. Maybe 1/4 by 1/8 thick. Easy enough to do after fuse is built and canopy trimmed.
I think it looks OK. I did modify my kit so it looks more like an F-51H, and those had a different canopy anyway. If I ever get the clear coat on and canopy glued, I'll post some pictures. I've built a lot of planes over the years, and I must say the construction methods on this one are different.

Finally finished the Jemco P-51. I tried to make it look more like a P-51H by changing to the tall tail. I also took a stab at rounding the lower nose and doing the same for the lower fuselage radiator area. The radiator scoop attachment to the fuselage was changed so it is more like all the other P-51 kits out there. In the end the changes aren't very noticeable and I could have left the kit stock. The canopy is from Parkflyer Plastics because the kit canopy was distorted. Engine is Super Tiger Bullring 46.
Fuselage 3/4 oz. cloth, wings Sig Koverall. Paint hardware store enamel with satin polyurethane varnish "clear coat". It's actually really yellow. Had lots of trouble with the clear running. It was a combination of too thin, using my cheap Chinese gun instead of my good one, and bad light. I should have known better. It won't get flown until next year.
