Default Wood Gllue

Is there ANYTHING that replaces Ambroid?

A trip to my local 45 year old hobby shop netted only a "We can no longer get it....I'd try Elmer's Professional Wood glue!"
My Dad started this WACO with Ambroid, and my patience to getting the best of me. I want to re-start this thing!
I've tried internet searches all I get is "out of stock" or "back ordered". I even tried the Canoe People at www.ottertooth.com
So, fellas, what should I do?
Continue the search for ambroid or use something else?
When I was building and flying 20+ years ago, ambroid was "the cat's meow".
Who uses what?.....I'd like some advice.
As always.....Thanks!
Steve

Duco cement is a good substitute.

FYI, just this month, in Model Aeronautic mag (AMA) there was an article in the products section that mentions Ambroid...and where to get it now..

I would think that they would/should stock it now that it was mentioned in a big way and its 'advantages' described.

I miss it too...but am looking at going ahead and spending the $5.95 for a tube (shipping $5) ...which equals over $10 for a tube... but if you have several buddies that place a combined order..and perhaps the shipping in not increased by much, maybe it would come in at say, $6 per tube...

Remember well the days of 'floaty head' building a stick model in an enclosed small utility barn...but man those planes were 'right'!

Yea! Those planes were "Right on the money".
Some of my Dad's old planes that were built in the 60's with ambroid are still strong as hell!
The wood will break before the joint at the ambroid.
Incredible.
Thanks!

Duco cement is a good substitute.
There are several glues that will work but none are a true substitute for Ambroid. Ambroid dries slow and penetrates well. I am still flying a plane I built in 1967 with Ambroid, Epoxy and white glue.
