Well boys, I can say with as much confidence as someone in my shoes could have, that this bird is ready to leave the nest and fly! I've been over every connection, linkage, nut bolt and screw at least a dozen times. I just taxied around the yard and up and down the street for over an hour, and the Brillelli is running flawlessly. With a xoar 21-8 prop it idles at 1100 and peaks at 6500. I have every bit of confidence in the power plant, and to me that means a lot. The only reason I MAY not maiden it this weekend is that the boys and I are going camping. If were back early enough on Sunday, and everything feels right at the field, I'll do the maiden. If not, there's always next weekend. My goal was to maiden by the first weekend in October so I'm ahead of the game already.

Well you know what they say, all good things come to an end, I mean the building part. You have put alot into this one, congrats on the finished product and may the maiden go well.
A tiny bead of CA thin on the lose tape and held down with wax paper and balsa strip should stick it down just fine.

Thanks Leroy. I'll be happy when the maiden is over with. I'm really happy with it and feel good about it. Hopefully it goes well. I have one more wrinkle to iron out though before I fly it. I noticed yesterday when i was running it up that at half throttle and above I'm getting some sort of RF interference that's causing all the servos to go crazy. They flutter and jump. It wouldn't be too cool to fly it that way. I moved some stuff around last night and separated some wires that shouldn't be close together. Also tidied up the wiring. Hopefully I got to the root of it. I'll find out in a bit once the neighbors are awake. ( don't think it would be a good idea to wake them up with a screaming two stroke!)

Thanks ken. Hopefully someone will be there to film it. If not, I can always use my little key chain cam strapped to my head. The video is poor and there's no zoom, but it would be better than just taking my word for it.

Steve, just from our time online I would take your word
But yeah I wan't to vicariously fly your plane and a few others I have been following. Next year I will get back into the air.

We were given 2 free tickets to see three southern gospel groups in Sugar Land at the Sugar Land Baptist Church Last night. Rode the church bus from our church.
Sure was great to get out. The concert lasted about 4 hours and was fantastic. But about a hour in my back started screaming. Took a pain pill and finnally got it managble. Sure was glade to get home and in my recliner with another pill.
But despite the pain I would not have missed the concert. Some fantastic harmony
Saw Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

So, who here is the knowledgable one with the gas engines and RF noise? I can't figure out where I am picking up the interference. I tried moving the RX, un-plugging the telemetry unit, and that's all I can think of. The throttle linkage is golden rod, no metal there. Can it be that the throttle servo is in close proximity to the ignition? Would that make a difference? I'm getting a little frustrated. Need help.

The throttle is the only servo that doesn't seem to be affected. It's mainly the tail surfaces and a little bit on the ailerons. I'll take a video and post it for all to see.not that that will answer any of my questions, but ya never know. In a few.

Steve in reguard to your RF noise you have to seperate all ignition wires from all servo wires. Make sure the spark plug cap is well grounded, it will create alot of noise and if you are useing analog servos with gas engines that can be a problem where as digital is not effected by RF noise which is transmitted in the wireing. Also check your voltage for your ignition module and make sure it's proper, DLE older modules are 4.8 volt and the newer ones are rated to 8.4 if I remember right, I use 6 volt batteries on my DLE engines and EKG mc-6 plugs and never a problem.
Hope you get the bugs out before you fly it.

Thanks Leroy. I wouldn't even think of flying it like it is. I would assume give it away before seeing it crash over something that could have been fixed. I may have it figured out. I'll post back after work.

Hey Steve, I went through your ignition question thread.
Did you figure this bad boy out yet. Or are you doing several things and and just have to wait for a chance to test with out annoying the neighbors?
Wish I had some knowledge there but I don't and won't say squat outside of my experience. Maybe next year I will do something with ignition. Heck I have 2 motors I want to convert. A 30cc Ryobi I want to put in an airboat. And ZERO ideal what to use the 42cc Poulan chainsaw motor in.

Sounds like the 42 CC would be good in something similar to this. 1/4 scale. Is it already converted for rc use? I also have a ryobi 30 CC that's been converted, but never used it . Maybe I'll sell it one day. Although I probably wouldn't even get what I put into it to convert it.
