Default Pond Racer

Hi builders !
I am looking for a Pond Racer kit or a building plane.-
The idea is for a plane around 2-2,30 wing span.-
Have you any suggestion where I can find,if possible, similar kit or
construction plane ?
Many thanks.-
Gemmis.-

Many thanks MajorTomski I have also looked at that forum but my
inquire was about a smaller kit and a cheaper plane.-
In the case I will try to draw by  myself a project although this is a rather
difficult one : what type of airfoil ? what type of incidence ? How to center
the plane with CG ? And so on.-This is a partiular plane indeed.-
Gemmis.-

Hello Gemmis,

Well, this is a subject I know very well as I worked side by side with Dick and Burt Rutan in 1991 to deisgn and build a 1/4 scale of the POND racer.

I still own that 1/4 scale POND model.

It has a 72" +/- (?) wing span. I have to check as it has been a long time since I had built and flown it.

It has a fiberglass fuselage and booms with balsa sheeted foam wing and stab.

I will take a few pics this evening and forward.

I may be willing to sell it.

I have located my POND Racer engieering folder and some Bob Pond Racing public releases and pics of my trip to meet with Bob Pond, Dick and Burt Rutan but still searching for my model pics. I have not handled this info since 1991. I have a few more boxes to go thru this evening and I'm sure I will find what I'm looing for. I will aslo pull my 1/4 scale POND airframe out tomorrow and take a few pics of it.

More to follow.

Every information will be very useful for me to understand
this airplane so to know type of wing airfoil, also if it is the same
from attac to tip of wing or not,if there is any twisting or not,
type of tail airfoil, where is Gravity Center, and so on.-
The best should be a detailed construction drawing too.-
Good work.-

Here are a few pics I was able to locate. It has been 22 years this month that I made the trip to meet with Burt and Dick Rutan. (Apr. 1991)

First pic is that of Dick Rutan and myself with the POND Racer. 2nd pic is Bob Pond himself (seated) having a discussion with Burt Rutan (designer) This was "PRESS DAY" at the Mojvae Airport, Apr. 1991.

Several pics of the POND racer. 4/1991

Last 2 pics is of the 1/4 scale model. Could not get current pics of my 1/4 scale as we had rain over the weekend.

There are no drawings. Your on your own from this point.

Having issues uploading 3 view (.jpg) .......I'm getting..... "500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."

Did not have this issue a few posts ago in this thread. I have tried up-loading several other pics as a test and it has no worked.

Anyone know how to fix this issue ?
