Default Old War Bird Identification

Bought this old bi-plane at a swap-meet recently. No telling how long it was sitting in the barn. Can anyone tell me what this plane is? w.s. is 60"; fuse (incl cowl) is 38" Would like to faithfully restore this one.

Yes I believe Michael is correct. The distinctive trailing edge cutout and planform in the mid sections as well as the vertical and horizontal surfaces are a dead ringer in planform as well as the false ribs.

Another possible giveaway is the fuel tank cutout compartment which both the Pica one fifth and one sixth scale versons of this Waco had. Both version could be set up to do either a single cockpit or two.

Thanks to both Michael & John. I found a color scheme chart for Wacos. Do you know which model Waco this is?

Yes it was in both sizes the YMF. Not a warbird at all, however There was I believe one that was modified and pitched to several south American countrys as an armed military ship.

I built the smaller Pica version and flew it for some years and included a Williams Brothers Vickers machine gun on top just for kicks. Serveral years ago I finlally donated that one to our local air museum out at the airport and its hanging over the display area. I also still have the large one which I built as the two cockpit version and flew for a while with an old OS 120. Never happy with that engine I removed it and now some time later thinking of a possible modern 20cc gasser for it.
