I went hrough the "rib thing" yesterday, but I was able to use mine. The notches were off, but not by enough to cause concern on a fully sheeted wing.

Nosen and IKON were old school manufacturers. These kits were produced without the aid of computers and lazers.

I appreciate them for what they are.

On the flap thing. I've never seen a Mulligan with flaps, and I never thought that they were necessary. As I remember, they landed just fine as designed. Just my take on it.

I will add, though, that I'd probably add them. Mostly because I think they are fun to employ during landings.

I'm pretty sure the real mulligan had them. Or at least the few replicas that I've seen did. As well as the few rc models that I've seen. Hmmm, now you got me wondering. Let me see if I can find the pics I'm referring to.

Neither of these are very proving, but I'm trying to find the ones I have with them full down. I also saw a three view showing them. Who knows. Mine has them now. Oh well.

Those are DGA-15's which are basically the same thing. But now I'm trying to figure out if the actual one and only DGA-6 had them. I think it did, but could be wrong. I wouldn't of put them if it doesn't, but it's too late now anyway. She's got em.

That's the tough part of building a model of an airplane with only one made. Hard to find info.

Here's today's progress. I'm done. My back is screaming at me. If I didn't have to re-cut all the ribs I probably would have finished this side, or at least got to laminate the tip. There's always tomorrow.

Thanks Robert. That's where I got a lot of my info from. I've printed out most of these pics from that website.

Ok, so I lied. I was almost done. I wanted to get this wing tip in the mold to dry overnight. I soaked 1/16 x 3/8 strips in windshield wash and they just bent right in there. Easy as pie. Now I can glue them up tomorrow after work and hopefully finish up the right wing panel.

My statement on flaps, was about the Nosen design, not the full scale.

My Vega has laminated edges on the stab, elevators, fin and rudder. The wing tips are huge chunks of balsa. I should take a closer look, and see if I can convert the tips to a lighter, laminated, design.

Gotcha. I love to use flaps, so probably would have added them anyway. Yeah, I noticed your tips. Man, there big. I try to lam my wing tips when ever I can. I find it easier it get the shape of the tips that way.

I made extra strips, when I laminated the other surfaces, so I have the material. I may give it a shot, to see what I can come up with.

And here I was thinking these wings would be quick and easy. Never underestimate the power of a Nosen kit. They are like well trained enemies waiting to ambush. For some reason, getting the wing tip shape right has always been one of the harder parts of this hobby. I feel like I'm getting it, but who knows if it will be good. Only time will tell.

We'll I'm finally almost done with this half of the wing. Whew, I've never had a wing half take a week to build. This thing fought me tooth and nail. I made a few mistakes though that had to be corrected that added some time. I will be done with the right side tonight and will post pics then. I promise. ( I know, it's been a few days of talking bout wings with no proof.)

My apologies. I had every intention of finishing the wing and posting a couple pics, but after working 11 hours with a nasty cold and fever, I just passed out. Leaving for work again now and not feeling any better so you may have to get by with Toms wings for another day. Thanks tom. He he.

No apolgy necessary, Steve, but you just knew that you get ribbed about the lack of pics.

I had the fever/cold thing last week. Get some rest, and take it easy, when possible.

We all know how hard it is to work when you are sick Steve, and overtime hours are h*ll. Crawling in bed is the only thing you want to do.
But Tom is right. We got to pick on you, or Tom, or Robert. Somebody, just somebody is going to get picked on (in in the small print of the bylaws).
I like it when it's your turn.

Wow! You guys sometimes leave me speechless. Like now. Lol. I feel a bit better today, although still really tired. But good enough to putts around the shop. The wing is no where near complete, but kind of roughed in if you will. Still needs shaping and sanding but that will wait till the wings are mounted to the center section. The tip gave me the most trouble. Not sure if it's right or not, hoping some of you with a good eye for tips will chime in if it's not. Don't worry, I can take it. I want to know if it needs to be different. The hard points for the struts are complete as well as the servo bays and hatches. Still need to run wires for lights. Instead of starting on the other side now, I'm going to take a day or two off and fix the speedster. The motor mount broke on the last flight and I can't seem to find a direct replacement, so I'm going to change the firewall on the engine box rather than plug it with dowels. There's a few other minor changes that will also be made, but nothing major.

Well we gave you a bad time and really enjoyed every bit of it. But it always just in fun. Maybe because we ain't got anything better to do ourselves. But you can sure do some pretty building.
We just like messing with you Steve.

What is involved in changing that firewall. They are usually really in there but good. I have added ply plates to a few in the past. But that shifts the engine forward.. Not good here.

Oh, I don't mind the ribbing. Keep it coming. In this case, I was having trouble keeping the firewall on. The glue joint was starting to fail after the first couple flights, so I added some aluminum 90's vertically tying the face to the side. It worked well, but since I would have had to re drill all the holes for a different mount I figured I'd fix it but good. Might as well take the time to do it right. My old man always said if ya ain't gonna do it right, then stay home. I have a way figured out that should do the trick. I'll post it on the speedster thread when completed.
