Power is a new US-41 that came with it which I had converted to electronic ignition by Ralph Cunningham of RC Ignitions. Ralph did one other for me and I have to say it is the easiest starting more reliable gas engine I have. I'll post some pictures when I get it outside.

Dave,
I have to see how the weather is this weekend. It wasn't looking too good last time I looked. I'm also getting ready for the Bits and Pieces Big Bird Fly In on the 12th of this month - I'm CD. My 1/3 scale Cub is in the trailer, a 1/4 scale Cub, and a 1/4 scale Nieuport 28. Either my 1/3 scale Spacewalker or the Mulligan will end up filling the trailer. I'm not sure if the Mulligan will be ready for this weekend - I haven't run the engine yet. Probably tomorrow. As far as RC Ignitions - I'm not sure if Ralph is doing them anymore. You can check out the RCIGNITIONS.com website. I don't recall how much it was at the time, but I had no issue with the price given how great the first one he did for me.

The original Mr. Mulligan was a Howard DGA-6 a one off 4 seat size racer airplane built in 1934. Howard admitted it was inspired by seeing the Monocoupe from the wrong end. The DGA-15 was the last of the Howard DGA series and was a larger 5 seat l airplane designed for the commercial market..

Although the DGA-6 was originally designed as a 4 seat cabin plane, the seats were
proposed but never fitted as that space was occupied by a fuel tank for the Bendix Races.
Check the Matt 3-views for the interior layout.

That was why I said it was 4 seat size and referred to the DGA-15 as a five seat airplane. There is no reason to add extra seats to a racer. It did take Howard a few airplanes and a few years before he could form a company and start building airplanes for the buying public. I think he built less than 80 airplanes total, racers and all, before leaving the company permanently and joining Douglas as a test pilot and engineer.

this plane ever get finished by Steve? I have a kit sitting here that someone wants me to build...I am considering how much to charge. He wants to pay me 200 bucks but that isn't happening!

Hi Bignasdy,
The problem with a Nosen Kit is they are very labor intensive. Heck you need about $200.00 to just open the box and read the instructions ! If the guy is desperate for a Howard, Kangke offers a DGA -15 ARF that would satisfy that itch maybe. Very close to the same size too.
Just a thought...

To build the Bud Nosen Mr. Mulligan you "must have" the enjoyment one gains from building
a "stick built" airframe. The true Nosen kits were the best when they were first released, but
the AA Industry kits were a nightmare, with the "die-crushed" balsa and too soft or too hard
quarter square sticks. Eddie @ Lazer-Works has a laser cut short kit that has been modified
for a wing tube and the balsa selection is first class. I have myself built 2 Nosen Mr. Mulligan's
and I'm currently working on the 3rd, a Lazer-Works short kit. Sure it is slow going but the end
result is worth all of the time spent, that is if you enjoy building.
As far as $200 to build a kit for some else, no way, I wouldn't do it for $2000, the Kangke DGA-12
is very close to the Mr. Mulligan as I have one, it is very well built and looks great, my DGA-12 will
be airborne this summer. The only difference besides having slightly different tail feathers is it
doesn't have the "bumps" on the cowl like the Mr. Mulligan.

Great communication guys, thanks so much! 2 grand at least so probly wont happen for him. I built the Mono coup ikon kit, almost the same plane and kit, and I just sold the plane, needing a full recover and love, for 100 bucks with the zenoha on it. I feel stupid, but it was just sitting in the closet for 20 some years, and I like the guy that got it.

Tom Crump - I finally finished my Mr Mulligan and maiden flew it last year. I used rattle cans of white Rusoleum and it turned out great. If I can, I stay away from spray equipment - its a pia to clean. I didn't get it out this year - its sort of a handful to fly. Its the first plane I've ever had that when you roll it with aileron, it doesn't turn at all, It just goes straight. Need to use rudder to turn. While I fly using both for a turn, this one is extreme in the way you have to coordinate the two.

RCP100 I'm glad that you completed and maidened your Mulligan.
I agree with you, on using aerosol cans vs spray equipment. Besides. most scale vintage air frames didn't have high gloss automotive finishes, anyway.

Hello all. I have a BN Mr. M. Was thinking about a Radial engine. Any thoughts on this subject. Or any engine you all feel is the best way to go.
Thank you for your time.
