Default Ace Pacer now 40 years old.

The Pacer first appeared in the American Aircraft Modeler in August 1974. This makes the Pacer eligible to fly at Vintage RC Society events.
I first built and flew pacers in the early 1980s with a TD 049 and a 2 channel Cox radio. More recently , I discovered plans for the Pacer on the
Dave Fritzke web site. I built a Pacer from these plans using the built up wing ( NACA 2415 airfoil ) instead of the ( Ace) foam wing. At first it was underpowered with an E Max Cf 2812. and a 3 cell 1300 lipo. After multiple crashes and repairs I installed an E max GF 2215/15 which has worked perfectly. Due to pilot error I destroyed the built up wing. I downloaded tapered NACA 2415 ribs from my 20 year old Compufoil program . I built the new wing on the Fritzke plans using the
Compufoil ribs. I built the wing inverted with building tabs on the trailing edge of the ribs and 1/8 inch washout on the tips.
Finally, I got enough courage to try out the new wing yesterday. Great success!!!. The Pacer tracked well through loops and rolls well. It does take a lot of space to land the pacer-low drag with a long wing.
Pacer setup: Futaba s133 servos wth Corona receiver and Hurc 18 amp ESC with Hitec Flash 5 Transmitter. Power is an E Max GF 2215/15 with a 7-4 APC
e prop and a 3cell 1300 lipo. Weight with battery is 21.5 oz. Motor performance 160 watts 13.5amps measured with Astroflight Watt Meter.
Plan to take the Pacer to the Vintage RC event in Muncie on Sept. 8.

Thanks for the info on a good substitute e-motor for the TeeDee. Mine had a
TeeDee .051 and I had a "superlight" Cannon Radio in her, so It went pretty good
when the TeeDee was "on"! (It was "Superlight" in the mid 70's anyway..).
I'm starting to feel old now that a plane from MY youth has become VRCS eligible.

I had the Pacer and the Super Pacer. The Pacer also had a TD.051 and a Cannon "brick" radio. You get it into ground effect on landing and you had a long walk. The Super Pacer had a Kraft radio and an OS.25FSR. It was a rocket and a bit of a handful. The FSR was one of my all time favorite engines. This one was in nine planes and when I sold it for parts, all it required was a cleaning and flew on. Wish I knew how many more planes it powered.

If you would increase the size of the Super Pacer to a 60" wing and put a 60 in it, you would be further amazed as to how nice of an airplane it is. Nothing wrong with the smaller version, but I'm sure you have all heard bigger flies better.

It looks like you're using a separate servo for each aileron. That means you can mix in spoiler control. Just flip the switch on final. That should bring your Pacer down quicker.

Flown the pacer 5X with no crashes. Changed prop from 7-4 to 7-5 (APC E prop ). Performance better. Able to do outside loops and consecutive rolls with min loss of altitude.
Motor-E Max GF2215/15 1470KV. With 7-5 prop -14A,153W. I used to fly the pacer with Cox TD 049 and 6-3 prop. Guessing (???) 18000 RPM on 6-3 prop= 119 W.
It appears that the electric motor is putting out more power than the TD 049.
