Part B is lade up.
I filled in the area under the cuff cap with chopped CF and resin flush with the cap. Then glassed over that.
Will grind glass away down to cap edge before removing the cap.
All other inside corners as well as that skinny spine at the back of the cuff got a fillet of chopped CF also.

Just hope everything is fine under the blanket. This is about 6 hours of work today and an hour precutting the glass and mat last night.
Around hour 4 I was thinking," suffering succotash, exit stage left".

If all else fails, the fireworks stand just went up down the way. A couple of strategically place M-80's should loosen the mold from the plug.

Parting Planes removed and cleaned up and ready for wax and mold release.
Cobbled together every last ounce of glass I have. Thought was only going to have enough for one.
Captain lucky rides again . Just enough.
Have some on order but not till Tuesday, no matter now
Had a little bleed through around the edges of the collar cap. Since the mold will exit straight off this not a problem.
Will have to sand that little ridge down though after the M-80 s are detonated.

The plugs have ben Emancipated! Yaaaayyyyyyy
Ordinance spared.
Had two flaws, nothing major. One indent around the cuff. I must of lifted the jell coat.
The other was a chip at the axle bump. there must of been an undercut at that screw.
No big struggle removing the molds. Not that there was not some apprehension, there was.
I chickened out on the alignment between mold b and c. Now I wish I had put them in. Inconvenience now only.
There are domed alignment bumps between mold "A" and it's two neighbors. The domes work superbly.
No damage to the plugs.
Very pleased with the results.

We have the toughest job of all shepherding our children (young or grown) in this upside down world.

As I was drilling bolt holes to bolt the mold half's together it occurred to me I didn't take a pic of mold b/c together.

It's hard to believe all that work, and that's just the mold. Still needs glass. Lol. I just had a conversation with a guy at my field that I consider to be a " master builder" last week about making your own glass parts. Like he puts it," yeah, you could buy them at FS for say
$100, and you get what you get. OR, you could make them your self for more like $400, BUT, you get what you WANT. And you get to enjoy the ride as well. Someday I'll work up the skill and ca hones to give it a whirl.

The only time I can recall getting that feeling by just pulling out a card was when I ordered the Valach.

The "ride" is the part that is priceless. Your master builder friend framed it about right.
Perspective has a lot to do with weather going this rout is worth it. I took one mold and plug to work to show a couple of coworkers.
One said (and he wasn't being snarky and does appreciate nice work) " Man, you got to much time on your hands."
The other guy couldn't get over" what a unique thing this is and all the joy that I am getting out of it." And was also undone with the cool factor of it. He also fixes up old cars, so he can relate.

Kevin, my friend, you only live once so if at all possible do it!! Believe me, it was not easy, and every time I start it up my heart skip's a beat. For the sake of "how sweet it is" and for the "shear fear" of losing it. But, hey, it's only money. Right???

I thought you blew up the plans from 1/4 scale to 1/3 scale from the original plans therefore you have no choice but to fabricate your own fiberglass parts because I don't think anyone has that size. I would say FIberglass Specialties only has the !/4 scale version.

The discussion of whether to go down the road of fg part making was in very general terms.
In more personal terms, I committed to building 1/3 scale so I had no choice. If I had started building the 1/4 scale I would always have the fire insurance of buying said parts. In a weak moment I might have done that. The other reason was cause this plane would be unique from the others.
If your familiar with the story of Cortes and the Conquistadors. When they landed in the New World, he had his men burn the ships. No turning back ( I know there is disagreement on whether this actually happened.)
When pressing on is the only option, commitment is cemented.
Beginning construction at 1/3 with no option for parts was my " burning the ships"
