Whoever made the plug for my Luscombe must have missed a few night's sleep before he started. When I get more time, I'll evaluate this one,, and what, if anything, can be done to fix it.

I hate using epoxy, so making a new cowl doesn't sound too appealing to me.

Mike, I think that your cowl is closer to what I need than this thing. Glen says that the Swift cowl is excellent.

Tom, Count me in! I'm a child of 1957, who took his first flight at age 5, and fell in love with anything "Golden Age!" I'm looking for a Gilmore Red Lion, Clipped Wing Monocoupe, Waco YMF-3 or 5 (to name a few!) right now! Cool idea! Thanks in advance, Blair

I would like to join the Golden Era BH. Love these planes. I've been to AirVenture three times and I spend most of my time in the Golden Age area.

I saw a Pica WACO in the RCG classifieds. You may want to look, there. If you'd like a 1/3 Barth kit, I may know where to find one.

Our friend, Nigel Tarvin has an assortment of Monocoupes in his product line. http://www.tarvinmodelproducts.com/plans_group4.html Nigel is a great guy and definately shares our passion for the classic designs.

Wendel Hostetler has plans for the Red Lion. http://www.hostetlersplans.com/gilmore.html I like Wendell's designs. They provide a nice challenge to the builder.

Tom,

The Swift cowling is made by Erik Richard to fit his dad's plans, he hangs out over on RCGroups and lives in Boulder CO. area. He moved this year and had to shut down cowling production until his new shop is built, it should be done any time now, he predicted by the end of the year. He owes me a cowling because I shipped mine to a builder that is finishing up his Swift and was between a rock and a hard place without it. I hadn't started my Swift yet so I didn't hesitate. If you Erik's email address PM me and I'll send his address to you. He plans on adding carbon fiber to the grill area for extra strength.

We need more pictures since the rest of you are too busy stuffing yourselves with holiday goodies I'll add one of my own. How about a 1933 Boeing 247D?

And if you need a ride from the airport a 1940 Packard to pick you up. (My father had a 2 tone 51 Clipper)

Tom, here is what the cowling looks like I took these just prior to shipping it out.

I doubt that it would fit, Mike. The shape is certainly better than that blob that I have. I know where I can get one, if need be.

Don Olsen designed and built a Boeing, like the one pictured above.

Here's a pic of one, taken a couple miles from here, but many years ago.

Default Golden Era

Sign me up !!- I love this era of aviation the most, and all the historical aviation achievements that were made during this time. I have several Golden age planes to include: Stearman PT17, Taylorcraft, Monocoupe, Mr Mulligan, Piper Cub. Most are in the process of refurbishment, except the smaller Stearman(GP). I picked up this unknown scratch built model at a swap meet, and did a kinda 30's rendition on it. I'll add a few more pics soon.

Hi Guys- I'm still settling in here,,,I'm a member of several Museums in the Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania area. I don't do a lot of work on Golden Age Aircraft, but I make some donations to help them along withs costs. In return, I get to roam freely among some rare Airplanes.I'm doing a Monocoupe 90A, and a long nosed Fairchild F-24K models.-Slow going, but steady progress.. The Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel Pa. has a 'Coupe slated for restoration, and I'm getting many close-up detail pictures there. My local Airport in Toughkenamon, Pa. has a fully restored Fairchild F-24 R...

Thanks for the Heads-up, Tom! I just didn't see it soon enough, and somebody beat me to it! The sad part is, it was close enough to drive by and pick up! "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all! Gloom, despair and agony on me!" Maybe next time!

Yeppers-also known as Earl the Pearl.....Call me anything but late for dinner.........It's a shame that you can't visit the Airport.. There's the only surviving 'Inland Sport' airplane, along with a Curtiss Airplane with a six (6) ! cylinder radial engine!
Is there a way to post pixtures here, cause I'll DO it ? THERE it is !
