Golden Era Aircraft Brotherhood
OK, by popular request this is the Golden Era Aircraft Brotherhood! This thread is in support of all aircraft built from 1919 to 1939 and honorable mentions such as the Cessna 190/195 Businessliner (1947) and the Globe Swift (1940) to name a few. I don't plan on being a stickler on the aircraft discussed so you shouldn't either! Membership is open to any requesting regardless of time in the hobby or contents of your hanger.

I wouldn't mind being a member of this fine endeavor. Assign me a number if you would.I'm actually 'epoxyearl' elsewhere, but I screwed up this application so much, I had to use an assumed name. Can basic member submit pictures ? Don't know how...Got pics of an Inland Sport, presumably one of two left flying, and a Curtiss with a six cylinder Radial engine. Yep- six cylinders.

This is a great idea. It may provide us with a good knowledge base and bring to light the modelers that admire them.
I've built Golden Age aircraft for years. Now, I have a chance to find others of like mind.
This is my current project, a 1/5 IKON N'west Lockheed Vega.

I understood this category to be about vintage or antique models and not about models of vintage or antique full-scale planes. Should this thread be under "RC Scale Aircraft"?
It is possible to build a vintage model of a vintage full-scale airplane. Is that what we're talking about here?

The Chilton you showed in your post was modeled by Seagull Aircraft a few years ago. The called it a Sparrowhawk, however. I have the large version powered with a DLE 55. It flies great and looks awesome in the air. You might still be able to acquire one if you follow EBay.

Hello to all the esteemed builders and admirers, of this age of planes between the Wars, who have already found and responded to this thread - and the many more who will come. I also have an affinity for this age and do have a couple of kits in my stash. A Brown B-2 Miss Los Angeles, a Corben Super Ace, and a huge Gee Bee Sportster ARF will eventually fly, as will various planes from plans such as Heath Baby Bullet, Velie Monocoupe, and Staggerwing. I'm subscribed and would definitely like to be considered part of this brotherhood.

The Chilton D.W.1 is indeed a Chilton Aircraft product and not a Sparrowhawk. The Sparrowhawk was a product of the Miles Aircraft Company....who also produced many other British Golden age aircraft worth modeling!

Please add my name to the list! I recently picked up from an estate sale a partially built Bridi kit of "Lindberg's Lockheed Sirius (spelled Sirus on the box BTW), just like the one in Monocoupe's post above. This looks to be a fun and easy build, what with the fiberglass fuselage, cowl and wheel pants. The real bear is going to be getting the ailerons to function, as there are bellcranks buried in the foam wing that has been glassed over, and the linkage isn't working very well, and besides, I'm not sure how I'll manage to hook the rods to a central mounted servo either. But, I'll get working on it someday.
Speaking of Golden Age aircraft, there is a Top Flite DC-3 currently on the bench also. The tail feathers are all done and attached to the fuselage top. Just a bit more sheeting, and I'll start on the bottom half. Then comes the wings!

You cant hide a "Golden era" thread from me. You know im on board. The first is a Bridi 1/4 Rearwin Speedster with a Brilelli 46CC and the second is my current project. A Nosen 1/4 Howard DGA-6, (Mr.Mulligan) powered with a DA 50R. I also have a 1/4 scratch built WACO YMF-5 thats in need of finishing. Mmmm, someday........
