Does anyone know of an image of a Spartan Executive that is painted instead of polished aluminum? Dan.

I was thinking the same thing, EJ, but I have the Luscombe, Fairchild and Tomahawk to build first.

There aren't many, to my knowledge. There is a gray one in Great Britain. I think you'll find pics in Glenn's thread on RCG.

I was planning to do the one in your pic, but reality set in.................................Too many designs, and not enough time.

Bates has the plans.

FlyerInOKC

The White/Blue Spartan Executive is N5053.

If you are looking for additional pictures I have several I received from the owner a couple of years ago. Used them as the basis for a BATES 1/5 scale version that I have flown. Build Thread on RCSB.

Glen M has built a wonderful 1/4 scale version with the Gray color scheme (NC17615), has a thread on RCSB.

I am not aware of any others that are not mostly polished aluminum with painted trim.

The Spartan Executive is a great looking airplane! I have it and the Howard DGA-15 on my list of possible builds. Right now I suffer from the common malady so many airplane projects so little time!

I bet if we all worked together we could kit a lot of these designs in less time. Seems like we all love this stuff. Why dont we work together?

Welcome.

I'm unfamiliar with the Fairchild 24 G.

I have a Hostetler 24 that I plan to build as an R series.

What pirit4 said makes a lot of sense. Personally, a large Mr. Mulligan laser-cut kit sounds nice.

I agree, but an elaboration on the proposal would be appropriate.

I've tried to do collaborative builds but it seems like life gets in somebody's way and all of it ends up with me anyway.

The 24 series had sort of a format starting with A for the Warner powered airplanes and the B for the inline/ranger powered planes starting with
24C-8A and 24C-8B in 1933
24C-8C in 1934
24C-8D in 1935
24C-8E in 1936
24C-8F in 1936
The designation dropped the C-8 after that and became
24G Deluxe and 24J with Warners in 37
24H Deluxe and 24K with Rangers in 37
And changed again to the end of the line in 39 to
24R-9 with Rangers
and
24W-9 with Warners. My dad owned a 37 24G NC19164.

I had always seen the Fairchild 24 referred to as an R or W, depending on engine type. I guess that I should have dug a little deeper.

I'm still plugging away on my Luscombe.

I've started to frame in the doorways and I've made the doors.

My goal is to have her ready for paint, by Spring.
