Manx Cat
Hi,
I was looking at some old movies my dad took long ago, probably 1957 or 58, and came across a movie of my first combat contest. I was flying a Manx Cat, I think that was the name, against my friend who had a Flite Streak. I don't remember if I built it from plans or from a kit. It's a profile biplane, the elevators were on the TE of the bottom wing, there was no aft fuselage, the fuse stopped at the TE of the wing. I had a blackhead Fox 35 combat special on it, I think.
If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jon

RE: Manx Cat
The Manx Cat was kitted by Consolidated models for a short time. It was designed by Bob Buragas and publlished in Flying Models Magazine back in the late 50's. It could be scaled up or down from 1/2A size to a .35. I sold the kit I had on eBay about six months ago. Thought it would bring more the the $40.00 I got for it. I think you and me and the guy who bought mine are the only 3 left who remember it!

RE: Manx Cat
Hi Randy,
Thanks for the info. I must have built it from the kit, I just don't remember. I know my next combat model was a Half Fast that I built from MAN plans.

Jon

RE: Manx Cat
Actually many remember the Manx Cat. Had one and liked it as a kid. Didn't fly combat with it though.
The plans for the Manx and the Half Fast are available from Barry Baxter at
www.controllineplans.com
You will be suprised at the number of old combat and stunt plans that are available.
