World Engines Kits
Does anyone know who designed and/or manufactured the kits for "World Engines" back in the late 1970's? Some of the kits in question would be the Robin Hood .10 Robin Hood .25 Miss World Mr. Mulligan Piper Cub .25 Thank you all for your consideration and input.

RE: World Engines Kits
I used to have the World Engines Cub (.25 powered) when I first got into the hobby back in 76'. It was a nice trainer but because I left the struts off I had to make the Fues. wider at the wing saddle, otherwise the wing would rock and it would perform a nasty snap roll on takeoff. If you look in old RCM's from the 70's you will see W.E. had a lot of different kits. This is only a guess but I'm thinking that World Engines may have eventually became a part of Pilot kits. But that is only a guess. eBay often has Robinhood kits for sale. Only once did I see A W.E. Cub.

RE: World Engines Kits
John Maloney and Dick Sarpolus were the designers of the Robin Hood 25 and the Robin Hood 63. I am,however, not sure if they designed the whole line of Robin Hood kits. It's possible that they did.

RE: World Engines Kits
Just recently purchased a Mr. Mulligan kit from a member of RCU. This kit was produced in the late 1970's.It is an awesome kit! It shows an aileron option on the plans. I will attempt this when I build it. This was a well taken care of kit. The cowl and wheel pants are in mint condition and the decals are bright and crisp. I hope to use the O.S. Wankel engine in it. (the muffler might be a problem though).... Hey ''dburnettes'' I really would like to have a copy of those World Engines 'Cub' plans if you still have them.

as long as your not in a hurry I would have to find a place that does it,,,probable not to hard,,,,any ideas as to who would be the cheapest an how much I have never coppied anything of that size before..
another point, the ailerons go out into the wing tips an look really good IMO!!!!!but for me it took a few tries to get something I was satisfied with the, LHS did not have any stock that would work well an a solid piece just did not seem to go with the light weight goal...Dan,,,,

Hello Dan. I looked up Kinkos in Toledo Ohio. There are a few of them there. They have a huge copier for architectural type prints. You can get a price from them and contact me so that I can send you the payment plus shipping. Thank you. Joe D.

RE: World Engines Kits
The guy i worked for back in the 70' was a world dealer, was fun.
What i have left? Things like kraft and blueMax manuals, ect
But the Robinhood, was just not me back then. Today i look at my robinhood 99 bones and see things i could modify it into.. it sure was way over buit.
I will finish it into some kind scale, any ideas?

RE: World Engines Kits
I am building a robinhood 63 kit that I purchased recently off of e-bay. I have been flying a robinhood 25 with a
magnum 30 four stroke for years and this is a great combination. Unfortunately it met it's demise last week end.
My question is I bought a magnum 70 four stroke for the 63. Do you think this will be a good match or is that
going to be too much power?

RE: World Engines Kits
The Robinhood 63 had a suggested engine size of .61 Four Stroke. A .70 may be a bit much. However, there is no law that says you have to use full power all the time. If you have the engine use it. You may want to beef up the firewall a bit to handle the extra power.

RE: World Engines Kits
I also have a Robinhood 80 with a Zenoah 26 on it and I love it. It was given to me half built minus motor and engine. After working on it most of the winter and flyin it this past summer I never imagined I would like this plane so much. I built the wing with flaps and they are a blast. I also built mine with struts and just put a set of RAM ultra brite landing lights on it too, VERY COOL!

w8eye,
curious as to how much your robinhood 80 weighs.Mine is 14 pounds with a maloney 125[weighs 4 pounds] and 2 1200 mah nicad pack battery back up with 2 134 servos and 148 servos for each airleron.has heavy dubro 5 1/2 inflatable tires soon to be replaced by sullivan skylites..I strengthened the wing center section with sheet balsa and fibeglass for aerobatics as suggested on the plans.pushing 20 years old next spring.always fiqured that if I went glow with a 2s .90 that I would be around 10 pounds.even at 14 pounds the plane handles fine and even floats when I had a dead stick on The maiden flight from a glogged filter screen in the walbro carb.

A 2 stroke glow engine like a OS 91FX or Super Tiger G90 certainly has a lot more power than the old Maloney 125. I've never weigh mine. It is covered with Dacron and has the Dubro tires you mentioned. Regular Hitec radio and servos. With the four stroke 91 it has plenty of power. My glides good too on a dead stick.

RE: World Engines Kits
Hi,
Mine is covered in world tex. This was my fist entry into gasoline ignition giant scale.to ballane the plane I had to add a platform behind the wing to hold the two battery packs.I was always curious how much weight difference there would be if I had gone glow. But I like it the way it is and it does fly like a cub.cordinated rudder/airleron is needed for turns to look right otherwise it looks like it is skidding.

RE: World Engines Kits
Thanks w8ye, I really like the site. Unfortunatly, I only have dial up right now and I dont interact to much on here but thats all going to change soon. I tried posting some pics of my plane and havent been able to do so yet ( operators fault) This was the last plane I imagined myself owning, I always thought I would go right into something faster etc..... It sure has turned out to be a real eye catcher at the club and a blast to fly! Take care
