Dear GRUMPY old top gun judge.

You have answered most of my questions without having to ask, your dummy engine build looks good and I will be using some of your technique when doing mine.
I have never been to a top gun show and probably never will, I get the impression from your post #7464 that when it comes to having an engine in the model it does not matter if it is a 7 cyl. engine or a 9 cyl. engine as long as there is an engine in there.
Is that correct?
I see that you are also interested in the Williams Brothers 7 cylinder engines, I encourage you and all of my WACO BROTHERHOOD friends to phone Mr Brett and ask for one, remember, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease.

Angel,

The cylinders need to line up with the cowl bumps at least. A nine would look very out of place in the YMF cowl. If things don't look as they should, it normally calls for more looking. More looking finds more wrong, and more wrong cuts points. Stick with the seven cylinder dummy.

I have tried and tried to find out who the manufacturer of that muffler is. I bought it online from another seller.

Perhaps someone else will recognize that muffler, and be able to tell us who made it.

It very well may be a Brison, but there is no name on the unit, nor is there a number.

Bill,

I have the balsa frame ready to glue on. As you can see in the pic I have 9/16 in the clear in the top pic and 1/8 in the bottom before I glue the balsa on does that look about right?

Bill,

I think you mean a "Bisson" muffler. Here's one solution. If you can provide the bortherhood with the dimensions, Bission will make almost anything you want to your specification. They charge very little extra for custom work. Also, almost all of the standard mufflers on their website come with a set of dimensions. I would look for something close to yours to get some idea of price.

I have has serveal custom mufflers made over the years and they do a great job. The easiest way is to make a drawing of exactly what you want and e-mail it to Janet.

Bob,

The muffler in the photo is mine. Someone wanted to know what brand it was. There is no name or number on the muffler. I don't need another one, but others who may be running the G-23/G-26 might want one.

Bill,

I wasn't suggesting that you needed another one. Several people seem to be asking you where to get one. If you provide the community with the dimensional information, they could have Bisson make one for them

If that is not a Bisson muffler, and it is a commercially available unit, would that not be infringing on a Copyright law?

Here's the dimensions:

Overall end to end length: 2 1/2"
Height of muffler body: 2"
Width of muffler body: 1 1/8" (not including mounting flange)
Mounting hole centers: 1 3/8"
Stack length: 2 1/2"
Stack O.D.: 5/8"

Bill, (and others),

Your muffler looks somewhat similar to the header pipe Bob Bennett makes, except yours might actually do some "muffling". Bob's is just what he says it is, a "header pipe" and there's no muffling at all................it's quite loud. However it is small and compact with a single pipe and the only cowl cutting normally required is a hole for the pipe. If noise is not a major issue it might be an acceptable alternative. Check it out at [link]http://www.bennettbuilt.com/page2[/link].

Who did you get to make the vinyl decals? I had a little luck finding someone with the correct font for the N-numbers, but no luck with finding someone to make the others. I mainly want the Waco logos, and the smaller stuff that are required to make the model look authentic. Several were going to try, but so far, no luck.

Bill,

I can recommend two companies with whom I have done business.

Cajun RC Specialties, Kaysville, UT
http://www.cajunrc.com/Cajun_Graphic...cial/index.htm

Cal-Grafx, West Linn, OR
http://www.cal-grafx.com/

Both companies can make almost anythng from photos. Their quality is far superior to the local sign shops. The vinyls are 2mm, whick makes them look more like paint.

I'm sure there are others, but I have had good luck with these two.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know of a shop that makes dry transfers? Or even wet transfer decals? The vinyl graphics are too thick for what I need.
