WACO YMF
RE: WACO YMF
Larry,
I just received some info on NC 14031. I was wrong on the engine, it did start out as a YMF with a Jacobs and was changed to a Continental before the current owner got it, he thinks it was done sometime in the early 60's.
The interior was originally 2 shades of red but is currently blue.
The Paul Matt drawings indicate a blue interior but the drawings were done before the current owner acquired the plane.
There were other changes made after it left the factory so you could have a lot of leeway on how it is depicted depending on what period of the planes history you choose.
I will send you a PM.

All - There is a Waco UMF, complete with engine and ready to fly up in Maine. It is NC 14031, the full size subject of the PICA Kit and Paul Matt drawings. Serious inquiries only with the owner. Price to be negotiated $$$.

Made up the motor mount box for the Moki 400. AMR reccomend 2 deg. right thrust. With a 40'' prop...makes sense.

Robert, you did build the wing with 2 degrees of dihedral did you not?

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Jim.
No idea as to paint yet. I want to get the wings on it as soon as possible so I can measure for the flying wires from Hans in Switzerland.
Then cover (stits). Still trying to decide on servos etc., instruments from Propag and so on etc. Lots of things to think about.
Cheers,
Dave.

Robert,
I forgot how big those blocks were on the wing tips. You got it right sand sand sand LOL
Bill,
Here’s the green Waco I was telling you about it has the NC# but it a newer one. (1985 I think) I thought only the original Waco’s had NC#? I like this color combination but I also like the black & white one. One of them will look great in 27%

Did you bother to ask Dany why he recommends 2 deg of right thrust? The full scale Waco uses none.

Bill, I've always used a little right thrust with all of my engines, usually 2-3 deg., except the 50% S/Walker (no room to move the engine to the left side of the firewall) and really have to crank on the rudder on t/off. I have had no issues at any and all throttle settings with any of my planes (maybe I'm just used to it now).
I know you are a great proponent of "no thrust angles", but, hey, it works for me.[8D]
Cheers,
Dave.

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Tmac,
good built. I couldn't have done it better except the rigging wire attachments are not according to my design but is an atvantage for rigging the ship on the field. So if you do not go for 100% scale it's ok.

Hi Pete. I have learnt a lot while doing this build and would love to do another and change out a few things, the rigging being one of the things that I would like to do closer to scale. All in all the model does look pretty sharp, cant wait to get her finished now.
Is there any chance that you would be doing a 4o% Waco,if so put me down for one. You need to be congratulated on the quality of your kits,I would highly recommend to any one contemplating a Waco to consider your kits.
acerc, rc-wings Thank you for your comments.

I’m glade no one bought your Waco I think you would have been really disappointed if you sold it. Your metal work looks great and I cant what to see more.

RE: WACO YMF
Today I tackled the one job that I thought would be rather difficult, fitting the top wing cabane struts. What a godsend the cabane jig is.
Although it took me about 3 hours to bend and "tweak" the strut mount ends I now have all the ends tight and the rod in between turns freely. To me that means no binding or stresses.
Tomorrow I will braze the fittings together, trying not to set fire to the house or worse....the plane!
I probably won't do more than that as I am picking up my new van and have to fit my wing racks etc. into it.
Cheers for now.
Dave.
