Hi John

If the dual exhausts are 3" diameter, then if I get Keleo to make my outlet pipes 3/4", it should be close to scale. Thanks for going to all the trouble to find out, I really appreciate it.

Errol, A

For a 1/4 scale exhaust 3/4 OD would be correct.

Flite metal, ED in regard's to why it matter's. This is my first true attempt at scale. Irregardless of version, whatever I do
I want to do as close as scale as I can. That way My next build will be with better skill than this one and so on from there. I know there are a couple of
small item's I have placed on this plane that may or may not be of the original. I bought most of the material before starting. Only to realize that that
one photo I used to order color from was all I could find. So therefore I'm building a custom bird for me. Cause I can't return the paint.
But I do appreciate all the help and advice.

Color matching is best done with a letter to the plane owner asking what color and brand of paint. As for minute details like you louvers...
they are good for eye candy and a brownie point with the craftsmanship judge...if these match your documentation. Therefore, collect all
of your documentation before you begin building a model for comp. Its also good to read the competition guidelines to understand the
judges sit 15 feet away from the model...except the craftsmanship judge who is at 3' in USSMA and @ "0" at Top Gun.

I am posting a link to an example of proper documentation. Note the sure of photo docs is in support of line art drawing with corresponding
number on photo and line art so a judge does not get creative...nor lost. Color photos will typically not match your paint unless you are
personally pushing & pulling exposures to replicate for docs. You are doing an excellent job...better than 90% of those who compete...with
as little as I have seen of your model...and your intentions to do more than the minimum... ;^)

Enjoy the documentation guide... [link]http://004edc4.netsolhost.com/Documentation/Beechcraft_YC43_Docs/Beechcraft_YC43_Docs.htm[/link]
Docs are for a D-17S Staggerwing.

Jim, those wire's were given to me by mrdhud-Dan. I dont remember where he got them but they are no longer selling them. I know, they are nice.
And for the wing's I'll be using rexall ( plastic lace ) I think. I flatened some small tube aluminum and it looked appropriatebut not sure if it would hold up to the vibration.
I know, more than you asked for.

Ed, thank's for the compliment. I don't have any plan's of competing. Just enjoying the build.
If you don't mind check your e-mail system. So far today I have gotten 14 from you with no text. Or it could be something with rc universe, I don't know. Let me know if it's not you trying and I'll pm RC Ken.

George,

There was a company Richwood R/C that did offer the Pica 1/5 YMF but is now gone. They had bad reports of service, incomplete kits and on and on.

T & J Models http://www.tnjmodels.rchomepage.com/tnjwaco45.php Has a 45" 1/8 scale electric and a 30" electric 1/12 scale. You need to get the plans from Flying Models and an article was in the Nov 2010 issue on the 45" version.

Kit Cutters http://www.kitcutters.com/ has a 60" UMF listed but are not taking orders. Suggest you contact them to see what they can do.

Those are the only sources I have found other than Barth and AMR. There is also the Great Planes YMF and the Sig ARE (if still available) ARFs.

You're not one of those people who thinks a scale contest is a comparison of one airplane to another are you? So many people do not
understand you are competing with your documentation...and your ability to replicate it...not someone else's model. Too often people
are shocked to learn this...

Thanks Robert, you know always looking. I thought about the lace material for the wings, but with the split stabilizer, I think I need something that will be rigid on the tail.

Your welcome Jim. I was exstatic when Dan offered what he had left, that I used for the tail and the front middle.I'm not crazy about the lace either. I have found a flatwire called box wire that from the sample's look really pretty good. If I put flying wires on that's probably what I'll use.The .103 X .028-We'll see.
If you want to check it out your self, Taconic wire.

George,

The kit is new in box. The wingspan of the 1/6 scale is 60" with a flying weight of 7 1/2 Lbs and the suggested engine range is .45 to .60.

I don't have my camera right now and am out of town on business all week but if you want a picture I can get you one next weekend.

Chris

Robert,

The FAA site allows you to look up the N - Number. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/defimg.asp

Airport-Data.com lists aircraft by manufacture, then N - number tells the model and where it is located and will show a photo of some aircraft http://www.airport-data.com/manuf/Waco;2.html

Airliners.net is a photo search engine where you input what type of aircraft you want and it will find photos for you. http://www.airliners.net/search/?

Vintage Aircraft Search collection is similar. http://www.russellw.com/photoalbum/photo_query_form.asp

Jim, just got back from the craft store. Actually took a look at some of that lace stuff. I will be using the flat wire.

Thanks, please keep us posted, that stiching wire may be the best solution yet for the smaller scale planes.
