Thanks guys for all your kind thoughts, I really needed that. My wife told me to get on with my plane, and quit sitting around doing nothing, so here goes day one. Back to cutting my final 10 parts for the fuse. I'll get some pics, and here goes all the questions. Thanks again George

SuperCub Man (Jim)

I just read about your WACO YMF in the latest edition of Model Aviation Canada and reviewed the pictures posted on RCC.....Very nice work!! Hope my 1/5 scale Pica kit turns out half as nice as yours.

Cheers,
Marko

Marko, I pulled the RC Canada site up but can not figure out how to navigate to where Jim (Super Cubman) WACO is shown. Can you send a link or instruct me?
Thanks

Hey no problem Jim. There was is a nice little feature of Jim's (SuperCub Man) plane in the MAAC magazine under his zone. Very cool!

What is a good FS engine size for the smaller Pica Waco? Will any of the new small gas engines fit and work? Thanks in advance.

I finally found a like new kit. The last time I tried I received a 1/6 pica Waco kit which this board thought was water damaged. It was and I sent it back. I found one which is like new and won the bid on ebay last night. The guy has a 100% rating and the kit was "never opened except to inspect the contents with nothing removed". I figured I may never find another in this condition and bought it. Guess I'll be going over this thread again. I framed one up back in the 80's and sold it due to my busy work schedule at the time. I've alway's regretted not flying it. Here is my second chance.

Bill, Can you give me some advice on properly oiling my four stroke engines for storage. 3 are brand new, one had half tank of fuel through it. Never owned four stroke engines, only 2 stroke. Any info would be greatly appreciated. George

I'n not Bill, but I have been using air tool oil, liberaly applied into the crankcase therough the crankcase breather nipple, turn them over several times. Have let them sit for months/years and never had problems.

Me? I use a mixture of Dexron Automatic transmission fluid with just a shot of Marvel Mystery oil. Air tool oil should work okay too. Anyone ever seen an old automatic transmission with any internally rusty parts? I haven't and I've seen them sitting out in the weather opened up and shiny parts everywhere. That is good enough for me.

Hi Guys.

There are a lot of pictures of the Wacos, taken by David Hart, on the Frank Tiano Enterprises, Monster Planes site.

A very detailed series of "action" shots of the very sad mid-air between the 33% Waco and a Stearman.

Some good "in flight" shots of the Big Green Monster"

Cheers,
Dave.

Yep, the Waco is the one that Terry Lamb (#69) framed up for Bob Gonzalez back in 05/06 and then Bob finished it and it was flown for a couple of years at Top Gun (2007 Best Biplane) and Monster Planes by Frank Noll. This was a great flying model, but it really needed some help in the scale department. Bob sold the model in 2010 to someone (I suppose the same person who had the mid air with it). There are many photos of this model in this thread. Its a shame about its demise.

OK guys and gals. I've talked to my printer and I can get 50 shirts with the same art work as before for $16 each including shipping. I'm willing to front the cost. The colors will be golden logo and airplane with white accent and grey shading on a navy blue shirt.
I'm going to order 20XL, 20L, 5XXL and 5M. So...........Put your order Only to my snail mail with a check for $16 ea and your address. I expect to print in a week or two. When the sizes are sold out there will be NO reorder until new batch of at least 50 is available so don't wait.

Mitch,

I will take an XXL, but am in Ontario Canada. Let me know if the $16 is still OK to cover shirt and shipping to me. Let me know if and I need to top it up a little.
