From; http://www.houseofmoy.com/waco/ On the download for the 1/5 scale WACO plans, there are pics and DXF files of: fuse_01 to fuse_18 and some wing ones too. I do not see those on the downloaded PDF plans. Can one get them anyware else? Do the plans from AMA site have them in there set?

Daniel , Just get your plans and templates from the AMA,Make sure you ask for the templates Bill has created. Down load the instruction manuals from the house of Moy site. Get both of them for reference, alot of mods from the Brothers. You'll be fine after that. George

Hi Dan,
You are correct I never maidened the 25% Waco. I stopped working on it before I finsihed up the radio installation (big mistake) and never went back to finish it up. I need to make room as I have so many large planes and more planned. I hate selling planes and seeing someone else trashing them. I figured this way the plane should survive forever and maybe a few people will get some real enjoyment out of seeing the model. On top of that I could not put a price tag on the plane that would make it feel as though I got my money's worth out of it. Over 900hrs of a labor of love to build the plane. I am sure it would fly just fine if I were to finsih off te radio installation and take it up.
Later!!
Anthony

Hi Guys,

I have just gottem my kit (1/.5 scale PICA) and hope to geet started soon. WOW! This forum is unbelieveable! Over 14,000 posts!  If I can't find an answer here, I need to just quit and find another hobby! I know I'll have a lot of questions as I want to make this one look great.

I have been in the hobby for about thirty plus years and got into scale about ten years ago, but have not entered any serious scale meets. I have a beautiful WACO for reference about an hours drive from where I live, so I'll be getting tons of photos of that pretty soon. It's one of the newer ones, N40116 if I'm not mistaken.  Red and shinny!

I'm looking forward to getting my Brotherhood number. I'm sure it will be a large one.

Dash (Joe).

Dash,

You are lucky, NC 41160, s/n F5-024 was built prior to 1991 before the fuselage was lengthened by 6†by Waco Classic Aircraft. The tail wheel was raised 3†(F5-001), the mains lowered by 3†(after F5-021) and the front windshield was also raised. The Pica kit will build correctly with just the adjustments mentioned and the Rudder/Fin built as the straight version (no angle at the top). Take a trip to where NC 40116 is housed and take a lot of pictures, including details, close ups and a general walk around (every 45° at about the same distance).

Take a look at mrdhud (Dan Hudson) wing tip mods to get the wing tips right, it will go a long way in getting the correct look for your WACO. When designed in the 1980’s, the wing tips were just common construction at the time with out any real effort in getting the shape correct.

Thanks for the info, John. I'll be sure to check on the tip mods. Would you happen to know the post or page number?

Hi everyone
I need to sell my beloved WACO to make room and to finance my new project, DH 89 Dragon Rapide. The WACO is local pick up only.
Do you have a color scheme for your Rapide yet? The one at the VA Military Aviation Museum is really beautiful. Ican send a photo if you haven't seen it.

Joe

Dash & all

I should have templates for the wing tip shortly. I have the bottom wing built and I will start the top one hopefully this coming week. When I finish with the top wing I will post templates for the wing tips.

Welcome to the new menber. Lots of good info in here.

If I remember correctly, FISHINGCHICKENS should be the youngest member. He has not posted in a while but he should be about 17 year old.

To All,

we visited the WRAM show which was for me the first time joining a trade show in the USA. Learned a lot of things how the US modelers are going for and got a lot of new ideas and hints. What I missed was a Waco built from my kit. As we are already booked for the Toledo Weak signal show I would appreciat if one of you could bring in a Waco build from my kit eaven better would be to have also a ARC Waco from my kit so I could explain / show how easy the new version will build. Any one available to show his Waco?

NEW BROTHER ALERT !!!!

Let's welcome Joe (Dash7ATP) as Brother # 219. Welcome Joe.

Bill, Waco Brother #1
Thanks, guys and gals!I'm really looking forward to getting into this build. I'm sure I'll have lot's of questions, so pardon me if ask for information that has been posted before. Ihave already started reading up on some of the posts in the House of Moy index, but there are really way too many to try to read them all.

One thing I want to do is to try to make the flying wire attachments look "scale like". Ireally don't like PICA's method of attaching the wings using the small screws and soldered wire terminals on the cabane struts. Lot's of time to worry about that at this point.

Dash,
Welcome to the Brotherhood. I look forward in your build.

Chris,
I will be at TG and look forward seeing you and all the other Brothers. I’m lucky I live about 20 min from the TG field. I attended FL Jet Fri & Sat this week the winds were bad. Saturday cross wind at (20/25 mph) giving the pilots fits landing lots of broken landing gear.

Anyone using a 7 cylinder radial from plans from  http://www.agelessengines.com/
Or maybe Forrest Edwards 5 cylinder Radial ???

I'm been looking at building the Forrest Edwards 5 cylinder Radial but see that http://www.agelessengines.com/ has a 7 cylinder one.
To buy a ready made one is to much for me right now But I can build one over time :-)

I would have to enlarge the Pica plans to fit the radials.
Any pics or info would be great.
